I have been using a manual, but obviously somewhere I am screwing up. I am trying to load a game onto Lynxman's Flash Cart, and it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone here have a step-by-step guide for the losers like me?!

I've done it before, but just tried to reload everything onto a different computer and can't get it to work. I have it connected to the cart (I see the menu and everything)... but it just doesn't want to load anything. I've tried multiple games...ones that I know used to work fine.

Check ROM size (block size) and check if BIN or LNX is set

See where it says STOP Upload... how do I do that. It automatically stops after it is done. But I can't verify... it still says I need to stop.

This is where I uploaded or Verified... can't remember.

Still nothing though. I can't get a ROM loaded

Maybe a problem of virus scanner or with your system, it looks like Win7 and they dont push the bits in the serial port in a continus stream, cause it runs in an driver controled box.
Win7 is absolutly f... with legacy devices (and Software not wrote for Win7)

About 30% of the tools i use dosnt run in Win7 and the Legacy things i use are not working probably (they are most self made things like eprom-flashing, or flashcard

Hi Eric,

please change the Newline setting. Than you can better read the menu.

Think yourself lucky — here on OS X there's a completely functional driver for the FTDI serial driver but not a single terminal program I've yet found that's willing to transmit a file in a suitable fashion. I have to hop into a Windows 2000 virtual machine.

Is there a better way to get the program to mirror up with the cart?
It is taking me a while to get connected, and sometimes I simply cant.

It will not show the menu on a consistent basis. See picture:

I think I got it figured out... it was being difficult.
If anyone else has the issue try this:

Quote

Hold down the ANYKEY and press the REST key for 1 second (while still holding down the ANYKEY)
Release the REST and press the ANYKEY. You should see a Green Light.
Release ANYKEY and then push it again a faint green light on the right will show for a second and then go out.

Open HTERM, and change the Baud to 9600 (so you can see the menu on the HTERM screen). Connect and the menu should come up.
Change the NEWLINE at to CR+LF

I was holding the ANY KEY until it turned RED... that was probably my issue right there.

I think that is the Baud Rate the manual states you have to put it at in order to see the menu. I then change it from 9600 to whatever after that. For some reason I have to do a reset like I mentioned above, otherwise the menu never shows up for me. I have to write myself a How-To-Guide because mine seems to act a bit strange at times....and I generally forget how to use in between uses. LOL

yes and no, if you do a FULL reset, the baudrate will be switched back to 9600, but if you only press it short, the baudrate stays and only the menu is shown again.

Hi,

i work on a tool for the flashcard.

Not finished yet(ROM Transfer not implemented/there are some bugs), but maybe it will help you, cause it can autodetect the baudrate.

Regards

Matthias

Shortest short version of my own self-guide reposted here:

Quote

first : correct USB COM-port! (i.e. the transfer programme needs to know)
second: change a few default parametres in transfer programme (see manual screenshot). press "connect"!
third: start with 9600 baud. otherwise, no flashcard settings menu will appear
forth: change baud rate to faster (on both the FC and the programme)
fifth: give type of file (.lyx etc) (on both the FC and the programme)
sixth: enter correct file size (on both the FC and the programme)
seventh: upload file
eigth: verify
