I managed to get an A1000 last month and accessories for cheap, but it has issues (boots up to a blinking red screen, supposedly a checksum error with the bootstrap ROMs). So now I'm trying to find a working A1000 system (just the system, no keyboard, mouse, etc.) to troubleshoot/diagnose the problem. So far, I'm not having much luck on finding one at a price I'm happy paying for. The one I got also came with two RAM expansions, so I really want to fix this one and not get another model.

Your referring to a Commodore AMIGA 1000 correct? I assume so but it is good to be specific for those who might not be aware.

I honestly wouldn't pay more than $80 for one. I used to own an A1000 with the box, keyboard and mouse and paid just $60 for it. Personally I'd sell your A1000 plus accessories and spend the money on something like an A500 or even an A600 or A1200. I have an A500 now and it's easier to work with than the A1000 ever was.

I just sent you an offer you can't refuse for some Bootstrap ROMS's, but wait... I didn't know about the extra RAM. Two came with your machine? You're talking outside of the 256kb front panel, right? So you have a DKB Insider *and* an external RAM box that hangs off the right hand side expansion port? After everything you tried, have you tried to boot the Amiga plain vanilla like? By that I mean yanking out any internal RAM that fits in the 68000 CPU socket, the 256kb front panel RAM and anything hanging off the expansion bus...

Red screen *is* supposed to be the ROMS, but just trying to help rule out anything else.

You should post a pic of the inside of your machine so we can see just what's all in there. Might be you have a DKB Kwikstart board with a Kickstart in ROM and an Insider?
