I'm finding that a lot of ROMs aren't working in 0.144, like Frenzy, where it says that it is missing prom.6e, but when I open the ZIP file it shows it inside. I've tried downloading fresh games from ROMNation and ROMHustler, among others, but it is still broken. Just to be on the safe side, I've also downloaded Berzerk.zip as well. Still nothing.

Help?

Running MAMEUI 0.144 on Windows XP Pro.

Do you have a properly updated Mame 0.144 romset? There were a ton of changes with the latest release. Even a complete 0.143 set would have problems.

I heard on the vp forums that they took OUT support of certain roms with this latest update.

So what did they add in to .144 for additional ROM support? Is it even worth upgrading to?

It's more that a lot of refactoring was done, which renamed a ton of ROMs. I haven't found any game which stopped working with this release. For me, 0.144 is quite a major improvement over 0.143, which had a ton of problems.

Everything that was changed between 0.143 and 0.144 can be found here:

Mame just ain't what it used to be. Over the past year Haze has talked about many of the reasons for that on his blog.

I still d/l and "custom" compile the new non-beta version's but I only play games using versions prior to .120, usually .106 .

As for the renaming and other ROM management task CLRMAME is as essential as oxygen. There are other util's as well but CLRMAME for me best after I really learned and undetssod how to use it.

Yeah this is why I am still sticking with .141 for now. Seems like everytime I upgrade something breaks.
