I really couldn't decide where to put this, but as I hang out here more than the other forums, here it is.

This is an article on how Nolan and Ted started Atari.

I find it hard to imagine a world with out cheap affordable computers, and found the story fascinating.

Enjoy :)

Then I get in to the whole cross posting issue, will the 7800'ers want it as well :)

This article is all pre 2600, actually pre Atari. and as I say I hang out here more than the 2600 section.

I'm glad you posted it here, I wouldn't have spotted it in any of the other forums since this is the only place where I hang-out. Great read, and it covers an area that I had not heard much about before.

cheers,
c

These two men didn't actually begin with a computer then but an arcade device called a computer ? This would explain much.

Was Nolan Bushnell still there after the 400/800 were introduced? I thought his major accomplishments before leaving were getting Pong and the 2600 out there.

I don't think Nolan had anything to do with Atari after Warner stepped in to fund 2600 mass production.

IIRC, Nolan stayed on for a few more years and was basically forced out about the time the 400/800 were completed.
