I did one of these videos about a year ago and it was about your collecting goals for 2011. Now this video is asking if you met those goals and what your collecting goals are going forward into 2012.

Pretty interesting. I'll have to take a look at my goals for the year. I'm still working on my Atari Lynx collection and I need some songbird titles. Perhaps I'll grab one of them every other month or so. Other than that, I've got almost all that I really need. I need to dive into my 2600 collection and think about a few collecting goals to see if I want to jump into the arena of going for a few elite games or not.

I'm pretty sure my '11 goal was to not buy anything. I mostly succeeded, but did succumb to the draw of the Aquarius, acquiring 2 of them, tape drive, mini expander... all to use the the multicart 
Just a couple other small items acquired, nothing major, mostly via trading.
'12 goal is to get some more flash devices so I can better organize my digital collection, and get rid of some original media that takes up too much space. Oh yeah, and finish my basement retro game room, again.
All of this focuses on the lack of space, the desire to make the setups more usable, and this goal is accelerated by the reality that with a kid on the way, the space issue is going to become a much bigger deal in the near future.

I think my 2011 goal was to get 325 Atari 2600 games. I have 326 right now and am looking for another one in the mail. So on to 350 for the end of 2012! But I'll have a hard time doing that because I have most everything. Maybe the bulk of that will be homebrews perhaps. I want Chetiry and Muncher. Never heard anything about Chetiry recently, hope it's not scrapped. Well, that was only a little off topic there.

My goal last year was to sell off all cart/disc only games and go CIB, and also to not replay any game for a year straight unless I was at a friend's house and had no option but to use an emulator. I did most of that while retaining some of the oldest cart only games.
I learned of flash carts last year and started collecting those. I hate PC emulation but love loading a rom on a system with a flashcart because it still runs like a legit copy and gives me the original controller. I still need one for most of the pre-NES systems so I can sell my cart only games to people who actually want them. Like the only reason I bought Muncher for Astrocade for $100 is because nobody is making multicarts for that system currently and I wanted a good game for it. I think what I need the most are flashcarts for Atari 2600/7800, A8 and Game Boy Advance (and a second one for Game Boy Color so I can trade infinite retro Pokemon with myself and back them up on various .sav files.)
I guess this year my goal is to scan all of the physical CIB stuff because that's what it was for in the first place - to look at. And get as much money as I can back out of it. Trying hard to sell everything for what I paid for it. I figure if I paid x for something there will be someone else out there who is willing to pay close to the same that I did.
Selling the games I have completed will take those particular games off my mind and make it so I am thinking only of playing what still sets on my shelf. 64 more games and I'll be done with everything I've completed before throughout my lifetime. My goal next year is to re-complete all of those while throwing in new games along the way. I want to keep plowing through and getting money back.
I also want to track down modded versions of each past-generation system where the mod is necessary to play burned discs and discs from other regions. If I can do this, I can try everything old before I buy it, except for probably Gamecube because it uses its own kind of discs. No playing backups there.
My plan is to help a friend work on a website and my page will show in-depth details about games I recommend including the gameplay footage. I won't usually recommend games that I can't make myself beat, so what I'll probably do is play from the backup first and if I complete it, then buy the game just to scan all the artwork. If I notice any major errors with a backup (including not being able to run it in the first place), freezing up, etc. then I can just shoot straight for a real copy.

I'll probably nibble away at finishing my Intellivision and 32X collections, try to complete my collection of US SNES enhancement chip games, and buy the occasional cheap game for certain systems: CIBs for Genesis, Dreamcast, GameCube, and PlayStation, and loose carts for GB/GBC/GBA and a few others. I'd also like to stay current with the Intellivision repro/homebrew scene, and maybe pick up a few Vectrex homebrews.
Otherwise I'm mainly interested in trying to play more of what I already have! Just last week I played through a game (Cosmic Spacehead) that I'd owned for two years and had basically never touched. That felt good to do.

I didn't do a whole lot of collecting the past couple of years as I've had other priorities. But in 2012 I plan on getting a lot more Game Boy games, and selling a heap of crap that I don't use, or multiples.

2010 goal wise was better as far as my 2600 box want list is concerned. Kinda got a little too lazy or passive in pursuing those this year, but would like to step it up in 2012.
My goal of 2011 was to sell some of the stuff that was either redundant (dupes from bulk sales), didn't care about as much or just plain growing out of. Again. Sold my Colecovision and 7800 systems as well as a few others. 2011 was a great purging for me in a way, but there *have* been some additions as well. Such as original Amiga software. Seems as I make room in the house, it's quickly filled up with something else that I have to "have". lol I justify the collections I have left though as stuff that's really important to me from a nostalgic point of view or are just plain fun to play still. That said, the 2600, Intellivision, Jaguar, TI-99/4A, CD-i, Vectrex, Amiga, C64 and PS2 are about the only systems that I will be maintaining and playing from here on out.
2600 - am good on carts really. Will still purchase the occasional homebrew, but would really like to have a box and manual for what I already have.
Intellivision - only a very small handful of titles I'd like to get. Need a few boxes, mans and overlays for my existing stuff too.
Jaguar - pretty good on and really, think I may be just about done collecting for it. After the first great purge in the late 90's, early 2000's where I had every_single_title and peripheral made, I now only collect the carts I think are worth a darn for one reason or another and that's exactly 27 of 'em. lol
Amiga - nearly an endless supply of original games that I'll continue to passively pursue. I've got a really healthy stash of CIB games now, but this particular part of the gaming hobby has and will continue to be a priority.
C64 - only into collecting game carts that I like to play. Zaxxon is one I'd like to get as well as a couple of other Sega titles.
TI-99/4A - definitely done collecting for this. Have all I want except maybe the MBX expansion unit and the baseball cart for it. Super low priority and hell, at this point - don't really care if I ever get one or not.
Philips CD-i - done collecting for this too. Have all I want and am happy with what I've got.
Vectrex - have a 72 game multi-cart, War of the Worlds, a dust cover and one controller. Would like another controller someday as well as maybe some overlays, but I'm good for the most part on this.
Sony PS2 - have everything I ever wanted for the system plus some. Hardly ever touch the thing, but Guitar Hero is still fun to boot up once in a while. I have all the classic gaming collections, but haven't touched them in months. Hmm...

My collecting goals for 2011 remain the same for 2012: ColecoVision and Vectrex. The only time I'll stray off is for home brews and thrift finds.

I had no collecting "goals" at the beginning of 2011, but as the year went on I had the urge to start going for complete US libraries on a few systems. First, the Dreamcast (up to 110+ right now), then the NES (over 200 at the moment, will go as far as I can outside of games like Stadium Events), and then the Jaguar (counting up through the Telegames releases, no more). In 2012, the goals shouldn't change for me unless I manage to complete one of the libraries (which in itself is unlikely).

It's a YouTube thing. An "Open Tag" video is made about a specific subjet (typically), and other users are free to make response videos with the same topic in mind. It's generally a fun way for people within the community to interact with each other. Sometimes tag videos are not "open", and specific individuals are 'tagged' to respond.

I have another new 2012 goal that I suppose you could consider to go along with collecting. It relates to my previous goal of getting more flash carts. That is, to finally and once and for all, get my digital files collections of disk images, roms, pdfs, and so forth in order to my liking. I've really been working on it off and on for years. But then I keep adding to it, so I have to go through it again. Enough is enough! I want to get all of several terabytes of info totally organized, then keep it handy to add to at all times in an organized fashion, then set up the flash carts perfectly so I best use them. Yes, it's totally anal retentive, but until that happens, I don't think I can totally enjoy what I've collected digitally over the past decade or so.

No not at all. Most people just post in the comments section of the video although I have had a half dozen or so video responses, which I should actually go and watch

I have never been one to set goals… other than the never ending, painful, and tedious task of completing my Turbo Grafx-16 collection… I've only been working on it for 21 years now!
BUT, lately, I have had this desire to have a full set of officially released carts for the 5200… I'm really close so for 2012, I think I'm going to close in on it! the only game I may have to hold out and wait for is Bounty Bob Strikes Back… I think by spring I'll have everything else…
in addition to official releases, I'll pick up some proto/conversion carts along the way…

I just started collecting vintage this summer, and my goals continue to shift. The only system I am interested in collecting everything for is the Vectrex. Recently, I was lucky enough to get Polar Rescue to finish off my CIB regular collection, so I'll be modest with my 2012 goal: CIB lightpen and games. If any CIB 3D imager games turn up, I'll try for those too. Maybe a few more homebrews.
For everything else, I'm not interested in comprehensive collections. I'll continue to sell off commons that aren't fun or sentimental and keep an eye out for rares and protos.

My goal for 2012 is to seriously crop my collection... which I thought would be accomplished in 2011. I have more systems than I have room to setup or store. I plan to continue getting rid of things, then install spinners on my X-Arcade Tankstick to improve the controls...
Hopefully I will be more successful at getting things setup and weeded out this year...

I have no idea what my goals would have been last year but I am guessing it had something to do with the Jaguar. I am not sure if I met those goals but my Jag collection did expand nicely this past year.
In 2012 I am working on paying off debt. There are a few Jag games that I need to get but overall this year for me will look nothing like last year. So a year of battening down the hatches in 2012 will make way for a good year in 2013..... or maybe 2014

My collection peaked a few years ago. Now I'm just filling in holes here and there or getting games as I discover them. Right now my "for sale" pile is getting bigger than my actual collection so now my goal is to sell a bunch of stuff. I threaten it every year but my pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger...
I would like to obtain some Everdrive carts so I guess that's a goal too.

My 2011 collecting goal was to get the "last" (ha-ha!) systems that have several games I enjoy, and to get the games for those systems that I enjoy the most. I did that -- I added an N64, an Odyssey2, and an Apple ][ to my collection (all thanks to AA members, who sold me good stuff at a good price!). And it's worked out well, but I've realized the N64 isn't really my thing. So for 2012, I'll be selling that off. I may also sell off my NES, Genesis, and SNES collections. I'm really only interested in the pre-NES era 99% of the time, so it's silly for me to hang on to those systems. (I'll keep the Atari Lynx and Jaguar -- at least for now -- just because they're Atari products.) I do not anticipate purchasing any additional classic consoles or computers in 2012. I don't need any more mouths to feed!
