Yes it's this year's HSC Christmas round!
Games finish Fri 30th December
Everyone welcome to play (screenshots optional)

Firstly deliver the presents in
Weihnachtsspiel
fandal has ATR [XL/XE only as Turbo Basic game]
if you are an emulator/keyboard only player this one might be pretty tough to play as there's a crazy santa on the loose! (Altirra users set 'System' 'Video' to 'PAL'). The first two screens are fairly straight forward, on the third screen I think you have to find the correct house using the compass point clues N,S,E,W; you hear a noise when it has been delivered.

Then hit the slopes in
Olympic Skier
atarimania has instructions fandal has XEX atarionline.pl has ATR & XEX
One of my favourite little games (I call it 'Olmypic Skier', you'll see why!).
Three events Slalom, Ski Jump and Downhill.
Controls: Down to increased speed, up to slow down. For the Ski Jump wiggle left and right, push up at the end of the slope and *keep* it held up for a long flight, pull down to adjust your skis, land them parallel with the ground for a much improved score! In the Downhill hold fire to jump over logs. There are lots of dead ends (you become the dead part) so it's more fun once you have worked out where to go [spoiler: L, R, L, L, R, L, R, L, R, R, R].

Scoring: Points per player
Bonuses:
Any friends, family, strangers rounded up, etc. playing earn you 1pt each ;-)
Any other Christmas (not skiing) themed games played will earn you 2pts each [See Post #8]
I know I'll be having my usual go on last year's game Special Delivery on the 25th, better hope Santa brings you a new joystick or two ;)

The next round #21 will be the season finale, discussion thread here

Merry Christmas
trbb

[Just another] manic Santa (ohhhhh-oh!)

A show stopping - gotta get up early (on Christmas) morning to beat it: 330 (God I hate that fat **expletive**)
santa_1.png

Downhill crash test dummy (Once, there was this skier who.....)

Eddie (the Eagle) Edwards aint got nothing to fear here: 265 (but only after a lot of goes!)
Skiing_2.png

Think this one needs to be open til Christmas '12 for me to have a chance of staying on my skis long enough to get into Santas good (God, what was that!) book!

More Santa shenanigans: 500 (can I get an ooooooooooh!!!)

The game appears to give you a preset amount of time (rather alot less that the whole night, like what the real fat **expletive** gets!) and once you've delivered the pre-requisite number of prezzies on screen 3 the game goes back to screen 1 again, but you don't get anymore time.

Bloody Santa game: 590

Bad_Santa.png

Are there so few Christmas related Atari games out there that we're stuck with this?

Update from my previous: this time the game appeared to give me more time once I'd completed screen 3 - I made it through screens 1 & 2 again before the oh so rude (and unexpected) Red Screen of Death appeared.

Question to those of you playing this on proper hardware: Is there a timer displayed on screen (or any other indicator of impending doom?)

Good to see we've all caught the festive spirit :D

If you're struggling on Olympic Skier - push/hold up to go slow - learn the courses - the ski jump is fun once you master the landing... Weihnahctsspiel was from Zong mag, perhaps Fandal or someone knows more about this game ? perhaps each screen is based on how you did on the last one?

Apart from Special Delivery (link on post1), for anyone wanting some bonus points there's Click(xmas edition - supports ST Mouse too), A Christmas Eve Nightmare (good ole text adventure) Merry Christmas Pinball, Santa's Boulderdash Party and Santa's Revenge (Fandal XEX links. ATR versions usually on atarionline.pl) if anyone plays any of these post a few comments - we need a laugh :)

Slalom fairly easy; the ski jump was much simpler than I remembered wiggle l/r, hold up, pull down... after a few goes I nearly made it to the flat bit :) trying to learn the downhill course but not very successfull so fat... you can call me Mr. Bull first name Terry :D 339

WNS after a few goes I got a couple of presents collected on round 2 so wonder if there is a time limit - KEsoft = Kemal I'll drop him a mail :) 570

I can't get O Skier to start.
The skier doesn't leave the gate and the music keeps playing. :(

Good job it's such a good tune :-o try one of the other copies perhaps (links on 1st post)

466 Managed to clear the big mountain and land on the flat 93m ;-) must concentrate more on the downhill as less dead ends past half way. Much higher scores from going faster folks :)

Looks like innuendo has been busy grabbing some bonus points

p.s. JC I think you'll like Christmas Eve Nightmare; limited parser but a drol game if I remember correctly... just about to play now! [Argghh!]

Perhaps he's bottled it! (anyone else having problems? seems ok on altirra 'default firmware' on my PC) Sure re C64 :)

Click also works emulating the ST Mouse - press option/F4 to select mouse graphic then for altirra emulator 'input' 'port 1 st mouse' then capture mouse/f12.

608 Getting the hang of the skiing and even completed the downhill once! Anyone figured if the tuck helps on the ski jump?

Christmas Eve Nightmare - managed to get into the shopping centre but couldn't work out which fast food to buy - "buy hamburger" was close... also got to the Radio Hut Store, then managed to break the game and get into 'room does not exist' this game was created with adventure master or creator rings a distant bell... a few amusing bits but hard going as you have to use full words

Some Commands:
I Inventory
L Look
NSEW NE etc move
KISS SEARCH TAKE (NOT GET!) START
QUIT restarts game (RESTART - Does NOT work and screws things up)
KICK
FIND
ENTER
BUY
ChristmaEveNightmare.jpg

Had much more fun playing Click; works superbly with my recently purchased ST Mouse (www.st-freakz.co.uk) seems a bit easy but if you make a mistake on the higher levels it suddenly goes crazy :)

Click.jpg

Will "wrap" :D this up today and put the final round up later on ;-)
