He just started this morning.

He's looking to regain his record. Sound boring? The chat log and audio commentary in the room is always fun.

I guess I could have said he's playing Nibbler. I just turned back in. He has past the 350 Million mark. 1 Billion or bust!

I watched this off and on until Tim finished. He broke the official and unofficial record. The guy was obviously completely exhausted toward the end. he pretty much used up 50 plus lives in the last hour. Homer was there on the chat board, poor guy was getting slammed by just about everyone including the mods. he kept talking about his world records and that no one interviewed him. Strange cat. Thanks for the heads up bigbee.

The last I checked in was somewhere around 950M. I was tired and went onto bed so I missed Homer getting slammed. Not sure I know how he is or what score you are talking about though. I did see that Tim finished up with 1,041,767,060.

First: who gives a rat's patoot about Nibbler? Second: is this the same guy from King of Kong, the nerdy leather-glove guy?

Don't think Tim was in that movie. I don't think Nibbler is the best game ever or anything but it is the 1st Snake game. Tim's score stood since he claimed it in 84 with a billion point game. This is also thought to be the 1st time 1,000,000,000 was scored on any game. Tim reclaiming his record is a first too. A lot of the old early 80's scores are ridiculously high (Robotron and Q*Bert comes to mind). Some eventuality get broken. Some do not. But never has the original marathon gamer come back to defend the record.

Here's a little more information.

I give a rats patoot about every classic game record. As for your second question, I am pretty sure he was not in the movie. If he was mentioned or featured, I do not remember it, Tim is pretty memorable. He did mention gloves a few times during his world record run, but during the feed I never once saw his hands. It would make sense though, to wear gloves.

I’ve never met Mark. I do like his enthusiasm for old school arcade games but, for my tastes, he comes across as a bit too “elitist” and sanctimonious about what constitutes a “classic game”. If you like a game that happens to fall outside of his arbitrary parameters for “classic gaming”, then he seems to get a bit condescending. Maybe he’s not really like that in person, but that’s the way he seems to me.

Plus, I’d be willing to run a fundraiser so that we can pay him to get rid of the creepy diddler mustache.

I met Mark in the spring of 2010 at one of his tournaments and since then I consider him to be a good friend.

I thought he came across as a hard ass in the movie but he's one of the nicest guys you could meet. That's why I asked if peeps knew him cuz if you don't you shouldn't judge by what you see in the movie.

He did shave his moustache ;-)
