I decided to treat myself to an Intellivision as a self-present. I found one on the local Craigslist: a 2609 in what looked like excellent shape, and 9 boxed common games for $50.
The seller hadn't used it in years, but told me he put it in storage in working order, and said he would refund my money if it would not work.
i took it home, and all it does is put out a plain black screen, despite cleaning the cart. slot, several different carts, cable, etc.
I emailed the seller and he said he will refund my $50 next week.

Sigh...

I had the same experience with an Intv I just bought off eBay the other day. Pimp and Ransom are right, you just have to play with the cartridge insertion until you find that "Goldilocks Zone," where it's juuuust riiiiight.

dZ.

Let me know if it doesn't work out. I'm pretty sure I could find a working unit to send to the Island. :)

I tried for another hour: cleaned the port, tried several carts, partial insert, etc. No dice, just a blank black screen with occasional pink or yellow bars. The seller was nice and refunded my money.

I have looked on eBay for a console but most sellers won't ship to Canada or charge a small fortune for shipping.

If anyone is interested in selling me an Intellivision (preferably the original faux wood grain) with a few commons, tested and in good working order, please PM me.

i have one that has the metal a little beat up and like 30 games for the cost of shipping if you want.. i am not a rich person, (in fact i am quite poor) but i have no problem sharing what i have. hopefully someday i can get games i need from someone for cheap. i like to pay it forward. i assume canada is ntsc?
