Well, to my surprise the wife ordered me a Super Everdrive Deluxe for Christmas. I think I will keep her!

 Your wife's almost as cool as mine ... but we won't get into that right now. ;)
I'm looking forward to getting a Super Everdrive of my own eventually.

Ooohhh I've been wanting one, but since I dunno if certain games will work (a lot of games I had used memory mappers and such). I played Kirby's Super Star consistently after school, so Iwould love to know if it plays!

There are two models, DSP and Non-DSP, the DSP one is identical to the super powerpak, http://www.retrousb....bilitylist.html

Unfortunatly, Kirby Super Star is one of the games on the list.

Must be considering she hates my arcades! Funny that though, I met her at an Atari User group meeting in 85.

Boo, that's a downer. Maybe there's something in future that will play it.

The list of games with other (than DSP) special chips is very small. It's quite unlikely that for a niche product like this (Everdrive or Super Powerpak), the designer is going to go back to the drawing board and redo a complicated device to incorporate a very few games. These games are neither rare nor expensive. Even owning those games, I hardly play them.

I just ordered a Sega Gopherwhich to be honest, makes the Everdrive redundant (unless you're super picky about sound emulation)

You are correct. There is a guy working on emulating all special chips in FPGA, but he's been working on it for many years and doesn't have all the chips emulated yet and the FPGA he uses is pretty expensive and he has stated he is not interested in selling product, but has already released some of the emulation code. Some day it may be possible to emulate all these chips, but most likely the flash cart would be a pretty penny. People assume just because this stuff is 20 year old technology that its easy to do this stuff, and its not. A lot of reverse engineering goes into this and if anyone has ever tried to reverse engineer something it is very time consuming.
