Hello, a little help please ...

I am having a terrible time trying to configure my controller in MAME so I can play the Star Wars, ESB and Jedi games. I don't know what to put the settings at for the controls so these games can be playable. I don't have an X-Arcade stick just a standard USB playstation style controller. Is there a recommended controller or am I just screwed until I purchase a different one? If anyone has had success configuring MAME for these great games I would appreciate the assistance. Thanks!

Jon

What's the actual issue you're having? All you need to do is hit TAB while in the game to access player control settings. Each control (i.e. UP, DOWN, FIRE, etc) will be clearly listed. Just configure each button on your controller as you want.

I'm sorry that I was not more specific. It's the sensitivity of my controls. The crosshairs (and speederbike, etc) do not respond very well. I am using a Logitech Dual Action. It takes a bit of movement on the pad to make the crosshairs barely move, and then they seem to move too quickly after that. Is it possible that my logitech pad is just not functioning properly? I know it's an older model but it has worked well. It works fine with 4 and 8 directional controller games but not with crosshairs (and the like) type of movement. Hope that helps in identifying my dilemma. If it's the game controller then I'll probably just break down and buy an X-Arcade unless someone can suggest something better.

Honestly, I find Star Wars and ESB play best using the mouse.

I had some issues a few years ago with MAME recognizing my mouse, but I've since upgraded my computer so I will try that again. Thanks.

I second the recommendation for a Mouse. Star Wars needs more precise aiming than you can get with digital, it's got to be analog, and the mouse does "okay". I've seen some videos on YouTube of dudes hooking up Flight Controllers almost entirely for the purpose of having it play Star Wars in Mame, and that would obviously work too.

I tried the mouse and it worked pretty well, it was just a bit slow.
