Since we have a PSOne thread going on, I thought I'd finally ask about an odd issue I've experienced over the years. I was late to the party and bought the system when the redesign was retailing for $50. And at the time, I bought a used 1st party memory card.
Anyways, that memory card has worked just fine since day 1 on my PSOne. But when I plug it into my PS2 if I try to play a PSOne game on it, my slim (Bought just a few weeks after the slims first launched) has never been able to recognize it. Official PS2 memory cards have always worked just fine on it.
Any ideas why my slim PS2 wouldn't be cooperating with my PSOne memory card?

Honestly, I've never used a slim PS2, but it could be compatibility issues because of the later model hardware. I'll do some research on it.
EDIT: Did some research, looks like you're not the only one having these problems. It appears to be a problem with the slim PS2. I haven't come around a workaround yet though other than using a) an older model PS2, or b) a PSX.
2nd EDIT: There's mumblings that there are two different official Playstation memory cards. An original PSX memory card, and an original PSone memory card made when the PSX became the more slim PSone. Apparently the earlier PSX memory cards will work in a slim PS2, but the PSone memory cards won't.
