Most people around my area just call it "that old game thing with Pong on it I had when I was a young'in". I like telling them it is the VCS because they will argue that its the 2600 all day long.

I was always referring to it as the Atari VCS in its heyday (around 1984). Somehow, later it became the 2600, and like Thomas Jentzsch, I also called it "two thousand six hundred" since "twentysix hundred" doesn't make sense in German, though that scheme works for numbers under 2000, so for giving a year we do say "nineteen eighty two", for instance. Another way to spell it here would be to leave out the "thousand", making it the "Atari two six hundred".
