Also, most of the time if you see a plane coming on the floor level below or above you, you know on the next screen in the direction you're heading you will get a plane also...same for the radio. There are a couple of times where this doesn't follow, but most of the time it does.
Nothing is random in this game, so you will always have the same obstacles in the same spots.
It is also helpful to ride the elevator both to avoid obstacles and to avoid having to go all the way to the right and then all the way back to the left. Just ride it all the way to the top...even if you have to ride it up and down twice to get the bad guy ahead of you.
You should always be chasing him because he'll run the other direction otherwise.
If you're unsure of the next screen...run onto it and then back. You can at least see what's coming that way and plan accordingly.
I have no idea how that Twin Galaxies high score was reached....or even the CV one. That frickin' plane is moving so fast on the upper levels it seems impossible to get by it.

Great round everyone and thanks for playing. Looks like I'm out of the tournament already and I'm not surprised
Great score Joe, congratulations - any tips you can give?
Looking at the past CV HSC high score and the Twin Galaxies high score I am blown away by how good those players must have been at this game. They must also have an awful lot of patience due to the repetative nature of the game. I'm assuming the game quickly reaches a maximum difficulty level which once mastered enables very high scores to be achieved.
