Seems that hoards of complaining gamers were heard after all....

"the publisher's revealed a second title that goes back to the franchise's roots. Per Game Informer, X-Com: Enemy Unknown will be a turn-based strategy game developed by Sid Meier's Firaxis studio and is due out this fall."

Thank heavens! I've been looking for a good update to Xcom for years. Some good imitators out there, but a lot of them mess up the formula somehow.

Yeah, dude, I am pretty excited about this. The fact that it's being made by the guys that do Civilization just makes it all the more sweet.

Since Sid Meier and his team were working for Microprose when the original came out, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the dev team for the new game worked on it.

As soon as this game is released, I will know, because I will have a huge boner.

anything Sid Meier has touched lately sucks!
look at Civilization>? I guess as long as 2K stays away?

I loved X-Com and still have it today in my ready to play spot!

Civ 5 has it's faults, but it's not a bad game and not the worst in the series (to THAT honor I give Civ 3). Civ: Revolutions for consoles, Civ 4 and the expansions for the PC, and the remake of Pirates for the PC were all awsome games that got plenty of time in my apartment.

Really excited to hear about this. X-Com and it's sequel are classic games in every sence of the word.

x com was the best.

my tactic was to load up with incendiaries, land at night and burn everything to the ground.

In a recent interview with VentureBeat, Jake Solomon, lead designer for Firaxis Games’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown, said that their upcoming remake of the legendary XCOM game will be a really challenging game. Jake wanted to differentiate this term and said that it would not be impossibly difficult or tedious to play, just challenging in so many other ways. Moreover, Jake said that they have a game that openly embraces the idea of challenge as a selling point and that’s exactly what will differentiate their game from all other previous frustrating parts of the series, like X-Com: Terror from the Deep.
