Most forms of entertainment come down to combining and recombining the same old ideas. Video games are a breath of fresh air in that respect. The fact that they're constantly working with new limitations, combined with Japan's influence have made it the source of some pretty startling originality. i don't consider them cheap games though, i like to think of them as "cult classics"
