Has anyone tried using Krylon Fusion Plastic paint to

a) mod a Colecovision case to another color?
b) make the ADAM controllers match the Colecovision black? I see lots of the Adam controllers out there not so many Colecovision black ones.

I'm tempted to try on the damaged cover I have once I get the replacement from 4jays.net.

Did you ever paint your controllers?

If so, I would like to see some pics.

I'm in an apartment so I need to go to a relatives house where I have lots of free space for painting LOL

what i want to do is find an almond colour to match the controllers to do the main console, then do the power button, reset button and the front by door in a brownish-red.... if that doesn't look good, all one colour like the albino one!

Are you considering sanding the system smooth or keeping the existing textured finish?

Straight painting over after maybe a light sanding to make paint grab better..
If i mess up, I'll just use another console case and pop the guts in it...

I'm debating on whether to keep the texture or not? If I keep it I'm going either flat black or semi-gloss. If I decide to sand it, gloss with clear coat all the way.

The trick will be not to mess up in all the little channels and crevices, those at the kicker if you want a complete quality job.

Ok, decided to go with Vinyl Dye for both the Colecovision and Intellivision.

Light sanding only, then dying.

You NEVER want to sand. Vinyl Dye chemically bonds with the surface. Sanding is just asking for problems. Wash the housings in the sink with DAWN dishsoap and use a plastic safe scotchbrite pad. and then clean with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. You might want to wear gloves with the alcohol because it will dry the hell out of your skin. Use a toothbrush to get in all the tight spots with the alcohol. If you want to spend extra ask the Vinyl Dye seller they sell surfuce cleaner, but from my understanding alcohol will do the same thing.

I used the above method for around 27 sets of Mario controllers and 25 or 30 Smurf controllers with fantastic results. If you choose to try something else best of luck.

Same here, done the same steps on hundreds of 7800 controllers over the years. Why mess with what works I say.

well I've already got armour all on the case so i was figuring i'd need a stronger clean than dishsoap to clean it... got no problem trying the other steps.

Yikes, armor all is going to prevent dye from sticking.
