Ever buy a game without knowing much about it, and it turned out to be a total dud? Not counting rentals, what's the worst game you actually bought at full price? (If your parent paid for the game, that's okay, as long as the choice of game was yours.)

Here's mine. Drakkhen for SNES. I got it pretty much because of an Amiga demo I had seen years earlier. And the box art was cool (hey, it worked for Dragon Warrior!). It was one of the few launch titles for the SNES, and I had gotten my system day -11 or so. :P

I so should have gotten F-Zero instead.

Lucky for the Nintendo Seal of Quality it only meant that said cartridge worked in said system. Imagine if it would applied to the games instead. There's some real shit on SNES.....

I can't remember on the 2600 but I think I bought a turkey or 2.

Defender was a bit of a disappointment.

On the ST, I think it was Taipan. Half expecting 7 Cities of Gold improved but it wasn't to be.

I bought Ace Combat on the PS1, I thought it to be such a turd that I returned it for refund, I just told them it locked up after a while.

On the PC, been a few poor second hand ones, but the worst new ones would be V-Rally 2 and Far Cry 2.

A tie; and I bought them the same day - Firefly and Sorceror for the 2600. I thought Defender was kind of a minor miracle in that the gameplay was all there with one button.

Dark Castle for the Genesis. Good game on the Mac, but it needs a mouse. Fortunately I was able to return it.

When I was a kid, I tended to play games even if they weren't very good, simply because they were expensive and you didn't have a million games to choose from. So for me, a game could be bad but still get played a lot. I distinctly remember being disappointed by Donkey Kong for the Intellivision, which should come as no surprise. Before that, I would say Star Strike for the Intellivision. Pretty game but stupid and frustrating gameplay. Even as a 13-year old, I knew enough to vote for it as "Most disappointing game" in a videogame magazine survey.

Wrestlemania for the NES. I'd already conquered Pro Wrestling on NES and Rock n Wrestle for C64, and being a big WWF nerd as a kid, bought it sight unseen right when it came out. What a disappointment. Not only was the gameplay terrible, but it was so easy.

I have so many that it's hard to pick just one Most of the really bad ones get less than a minute of play before being filed away forever--but this list isn't for those--I don't think. My 'worst' games barely held my attention, and strung me along for a good amount of time while providing no fun at all.

Cladun: This is an RPG on PSP--this one comes right to mind. Lousy "humor" and long cutscenes making fun of how awful the game itself is. I wanted all the main characters to die. I kept playing this for nearly an hour, waiting for it to get better, and praying for savepoints so I wouldn't have to re-live anything I had already endured.

Also Dirty Harry on NES. These days I would just chuck it on a shelf after 15 seconds, but it was an xmas present when I was 10 or so, and I ended up beating that game (many times).

There's a few bad eggs I had bought but the one that standsnout is one that my cousin got, Populous for the SNES. He got it because the box art was awesome but the game was just....blecth.

For me, it was definitely Earthworld. I was expecting some new Adventure-type game. Instead, I got a pile of crap.

The one that jumps to mind for me may not be too classic, it is Trigger Man for the PS2. The other game that I bought that I was most disappointed in was Pier Solar.

I actually did have a million games to choose from...sort of. Because games were so expensive, it made my mother "happy" if I rented from Blockbuster instead of buying...so usually she'd give me the money to rent. It's a lot easier to ask for $5 twenty times than it is to ask for $100 once. And a game rental would keep me busy and out of her hair for a weekend.

Cybermorph was great!! What other game let you be taunted by a green witch?

Mine has to be Raiden for the Jag. Its a good game, but the seller screwed with it. A Jag Game in a Genesis Cart?? Who does that?

I'm notorious for actually liking, and enjoying, games that are known to be bad, or of poor/low quality… I'm very masochistic!

now that I have stated my disclaimer, I quite enjoy MUSCLE! I liked it far more than Tag Team Wrestling on the NES…

Ghostbusters for the NES. My parents paid full price for it the same xmas that I got my NES. Ghostbusters plus Activision, the leaders of Atari programming, how could they go wrong? Needless to say I played a lot of SMB/Duck Hunt...

Funny though, I really like the 2600 version. No staircase level, better driving scenes, and better-looking proton beams ftw!
