I got the flute ,but I couldn't get to the basket because of a stupid frog on the bottom I couldn't jump over. Also there are bats in the second maze that don't fly straight and those speedy ants. I can't get pass the frog because of the stpuid timing. You have to jump it just right. I wish they wouldn't force you to have to do things just right in games.

If I remember correctly, I don't think you should ever try to jump over the frogs. These are usually found jumping back and forth between ladders, correct? What you do is go down the ladder, wait for the frong to jump over you, then work your way to the side you wish to go.

The ants are tough at first: When I first played the second level, I thought they were impossible as well. Once you get the timing down, they're not so bad. The bats are crazy, but you have to study their movement to figure out when their highest flight point is, and when they dip down. Once you learn where the safe spots are, you should be okay. Yes, the second level is pretty tough! I think you have to collect more items than just the flute before going over to the basket and finishing the level, though...

I remember when I doscovered the second maze waaaaay back in 1984 - I didn't even know it existed. It was exciting! Then, I actually tried to play it. Bummer. I wasn't so excited anymore. I didn't just throw the controller. I threw the whole enchilada. Whew knew 5200's could take such a beating? (throwing)

There's a website called MAPY that has a lot of the maps from the 80s game as well. You might try it for Pitfall II.

One guy on these forums was challenged, and got a perfect score, after a LOT of trial and error.

Cool. I always wondered what the perfect score was for the second maze. I ended up beating it, but not until I got back into gaming in college. I got close 'back in the day', but could never get that damn golden rope. I knew what was going to happen though, I pieced that much together back then.
