My newly acquired Lynx 2 has some odd problems:

It has no sound through the speaker or via the headphones socket. Is this a sound caps issue?

Also, the A and B buttons are activating on their own. E.g. on Kung Food, the main sprite just punches and kicks continuously. The D pad is ok though....this could be that the casing has been removed and put back on incorrectly - I hope so :)

Any ideas how to fix these issues?

for A and B, just clean the contacts below the buttons. they use graphite for getting the contact, and somtimes there is a little graphite dust under the button. is this is not working yet, it might be that the rubber is a bit old. what you can do then, is to add a small additional spacer, like a piece of paper or tape with a hole wher the contact has to be.

This is a very common problem that comes when someone plugs something wrong into the headphone socket. It fries the speaker. Usually people plug in the AC/DC adapter there.

The first thing is to disconnect the speaker and test the headphones again. They may work now. It is easy to find a same size speaker from some electronics component store.

Many thanks Karri, I'll try that.

If I need to replace the speaker, would a Game Gear speaker work as a substitute?

Just disconnected the speaker and still no sound through headphones :( Must be a caps issue?
