My wife joins me for this review of Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail by Sierra On-Line released in 1996. She beta tested the game back when we used to work there. In this game, Larry is attempting to win the gorgeous Captain Thygh's favor with a little help from Drew Baringmore, Dewmi Moore, Victorian Principles, Jamie Lee Coitus, the Juggs, and Annette Boning in this often NSFW, but always hilarious, classic adventure game!

I well remember these games. I think I still have this on disk myself. I have to admit that I have the best memories of LSL1VGA LSL3 and LSL6. LSL7 was ok, butI didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

I really don't think LSL is generally any more raunchy than many of the teen sex comedies in the 80's or even more recent movies like Hot Tub Time Machine (awful movie) or Eurotrip. Granted, LSL7 is a bit raunchier than earlier games.

I remember at the time, most fans feel we should have stopped at LSL6.

I'm pretty interested to see what happens with the LSL 1 HD remake coming this year. These adventure games play very well on touch devices like the iPad, and if it is only $5, I think this could really reboot the series!

Woah. I hadn't heard about the remake, or that another company has been given/sold rights to make the games. Well, given that the old point and click games are making a comeback these days, I guess it's not that much of a surprise. I'm thrilled that Al Lowe is going to be involved in future games.

Now if only they could liberate Space Quest.

Great video as always MJ, I've been a subscriber for a while now and look forward to many more videos.

Any tips for uploading to youtube? I have nothing but problems with my uploads. Artefacts over the screen, audio cuts out. Pain in the ass really.

Fun game!I have most of the Sierra titles. The "Quest" titles are all great IMO, especially Police and King's Quest. This is the era of PC gaming i loved the most, the "Adventure" gaming era.Sierra, when Roberta and Ken Williams where running things was THE best.I absolutely detest the NEW Sierra of today, in fact it's not even Sierra at all to me.

Honestly, I've never had any problems uploading my 90+ videos to YouTube. However, I suspect that may be because I am using iMovie '11 on OSX 10.7.2, which is pretty well supported. My files are: Quicktime MOV format, Dimensions: 1280x720, Codecs: H.264 & AAC with bitrate rite around 5,600. If you too are using iMovie & a Mac, then it may be your Internet providers and the quality of the upload?! Hard to tell. Hope that helps!

Yep. The Sierra of today is nothing like when I worked there. They closed Dynamix (some of my personal favorite games), closed the office building in Bellevue where we worked, and sold the company to the French company Vivendi. Now Vivendi is merged with Activision and Sierra only existed in name... Nobody from the Sierra of old is there now, which is unfortunate...because so many of those classic games are still loved by gamers like us.

I never went beyond Leisure Suit Larry 3: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals (try saying that three times fast!) - there's the downside with graphic adventure games like this. Once you beat it, why go back? You've solved all the puzzles.

Always been a huge LSL fan, even liked the first of the modern ones (the last one was horrible.) 5 and 6 were my favs.

And I was playing the games long before I should have been. :P

Looking forward to this remake very much. I really enjoyed the remakes of the first three KQ games and hoping this one is just as much fun. REALLY happy Al Lowe is involved in it!

Wow!!!!, please elaborate about your time at Sierra, if that's alright with you.Did you work there when founders Ken and Roberta were there?I for some reason see Ken as a hard ass, was he difficult to work for? Thanks!

I didn't work directly with Ken, but I got the sense that he was your typical CEO: very serious about the company he and his wife built by hand from the ground up. That said, when I was there, it was FULL of people who loved games...and not just our own. We played everything from LucasArts games, to EA to everything else in between. There was a passion about what we did and video games in general...and you could feel it in the air.

That changed as the 90's wore on however, as Sierra started getting deeper into lifestyle software, like Print Artist and 3D Landscape Designer, educational software and just other stuff that wasn't quite what Sierra was known for. Also, it's my feeling that Windows 95 really fucked up the market for a while...as it just wasn't very conducive to playing games. People who bought a new computer with Win95 on it, often found they would need to play highend games in DOS with a BOOTDISK because Win95 was so funky. It took Win98 with Direct X to really iron all that stuff out... but by that time, for many gamers...the damage was done.

My B.C'S Quest For Tires has Sierra On-line Inc on a blue and silver foil label where as B.C 2 Grog's Revenge does not show Sierra anywhere on label. What is that all about. :?
