I ran across this game yesterday but I didn't really have time to play it. I found it here

http://www.examiner....it-tribute-game

The game is great! So many great NES games in it. I love to give away the games but to me, that was part of the fun, not knowing what was going to come up next. I beat the final boss today! Sure there have been the Contra in Mario games and the likes but this game has WAY more flavor to it. Give it a try. Any one who played the NES a lot will not be disappointed.

After you play it some, you may want to play it full screen.

Thoughts? I know I enjoyed it

And since your avatar is Dig Dug, I thought I would at least point out that he has a small cameo in it :P

This game rocks!!! Quick side note, if you donate at least $1 to the site (the game itself is free) they will email you an exclusive mini game staring Abobo. It's pretty fun too, well worth a donation which they clearly deserve for giving all of us such a sweet game for free!

OMG this game is *AMAZING*!!1 So much fun. :) Anyone who had ever owned an NES has got to play this game.

Just beat the final boss this morning. Now I'm trying to uncover all the secrets I missed. Has anyone solved "Headbanger" yet?

It looks great using the fullscreen link on my 19". I've also set up my gamepad to work with it, you really need it instead of using the keyboard. You can use any USB gamepad, you just need a utility that will assign the Arrow and A + S keys to the buttons and d-pad. On Mac I used USB Overdrive FTW.

I'm at 1275/2000. And I know how to get about 100 more, but I just don't have time to go do it now.

Headbanger remains a mystery. I think it has something to do with the intro screen, cause it comes before level 1 stuff. I think it may even have something to do with one of the characters that shows up in the door in the introduction.

I dug it's vibe, but I can't stand playing a game like this on my keyboard. If this was actually on a classic console, I'd fall in love.

You don't have any kind of controller for your computer?

Nope. I tend to stay away from gaming on my computer, unless it's an RTS.

Well go out and buy one, it's worth it for this game. They XBox-like controllers for the computer, then you can use a utility to map keyboard keys to the buttons and d-pad.

1335/2000.

Fun game, but I wish I could download it and/or play it full screen.

Here is a full browser link:

Some browsers will let you browse full screen I think. I think there might even be a way to run flash programs in a desktop flash app...but I'm not sure how.

edit: Goddammit why can't I just post a link without it making a thumbnail!!!

Hey guys, I'm at 1415/2000 now, but I'm kind of stuck.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to do the Headbanger, Fire Bad! and Double Trouble secrets (medals).

Has anybody figured these out yet?

Most of the rest of them seem impossible, like not getting killed in the Contra stages etc. (edit: I got the first Contra stage now, Super Soldier, w00t! 1465/2000)

Got Fire Bad! now too. Still need Double Trouble and Headbanger. Came so close to doing both Contra levels perfect, but Big Kirby ate me once at the very end...arg! The spread gun is the key.

I'm still missing Private Party on lvl 1 and Thriller on level 2. I thought maybe Private Party was beat the level w/o dying but it's not. I did that.
3 and 4 are cleared. I have a few little things left on level 5. All 4 chairs and avoid the mini reapers.
Then it's off to level 6. I have 2 left there. 7 and 8 have a good bit left.

I now have all of the 00X except the donate one which I plan to donate, I just have not yet. And Headbanger...

1420/2000

I'm at 1540 now. Came really close to finishing both Contra levels and Balloon level perfectly. I'll try again when I get a chance.

The ones that are really bothering me now are Headbanger, which I think has something to do with when this character shows up in the doorway in the intro:

Posted Image

And Double Trouble, on the Contra stage. I think it might have something to do with Higgins on the skateboard...not sure.

This game is great, but the Pro Wrestling stage needs work and is badly programmed.

For Private Party you need to walk up the wall at the end of the Double Dragon stage. You'll see sort of rails on the wall, press up when you're up against them. It's a glitch from the original game that they've recreated into an Easter Egg.

For Thriller, you have to swim back to the beginning of the stage after meeting with the mermaid.

I thought it had something to do with that part. I was just sitting there punching it. I had forgot about the old easter egg.

That puts me at 1675/200

What's left? Some level 6 and 7 stuff and Headhunter. I'm not sure headhunter has anything to do with Cut Man though.

Wow 1675 is really good.

It's Headbanger, not Headhunter. It's labelled 00x so it has to be something from the intro, menu or demo screens.
