I'n just taking a stab in the dark here, but quite possibly Coleco only acquired the rights to Smurf(s) for videogame consoles and Super Smurf on wafer tape played throught the original Expansion Module #3 Super Game Module would have been included. Coleco probably would have had to go back to the negotiating table with Peyo to acquire the rights to distribute Super Smurf for computers on data pack or disk.

Nope, Coleco was supposed to release some Smurf stuff on ADAM, mostly learning stuff
You can even saw them on the ADAM system box ;)

Indeed they did list a couple educational Smurf programs for the ADAM (Smurf: Adventures in Reading and Smurf: Fun with Numbers), but I highly doubt any work on these titles was ever done especially since they were also planning a lengthy list of educational 'warez based on the Cabbage Patch Kids, Dr. Seuss and Richard Scarry characters with a large emphasis on the Richard Scarry line.

As for me, I'm sure Coleco did completed or mostly alot of games, software
When they pull out the plug on CV and ADAM, everything goes ''trashed''
I mean, we found some protos that we never though possible, I also know a member here who have some CV protos that we never seen ..... I contacted that member and he told me he'll show me them (pics at least) of some of his protos
Sadly, he's not offen here on AA, but I keep my finger crossed

So, I think alot of protos exist and maybe already in hands of some collectors but we may never see them :(

I agree 100% concerning the possibility of A LOT of software being in the developmental pipeline (lord knows there was no shortage of outside companies that Coleco contracted to produce the warez) and that the largest majority just got thrown into the dumpster and these companies moved onto other systems.

Think I know who you are talking about re. the protos.... hope things work out eventually. :ponder:

Getting back to the Super Smurf game, it would have seemed a no brainer for that game to be completed and released for the ADAM since there was already work done on it and possibly even completed for the SGM dating back to early 1983... so something squashed this release and I would have to believe it was the lack of computer rights distribution.

Yeah, but the wafer (SuperGame Module) was quite different than the ADAM

Before going on with the ADAM, Coleco & Circuits & System were making the Laser Disc System (The CED) wich was made from a RCA Selectavision .... in fact, Prototype unit has been made by C&S for 50k
(Picture of the CED Super Zaxxon disk can be found on colecovision.dk )

So my guess is they (Coleco) ported all the SGM games to CED , but was all abandoned projects....

I read that Tac Scan was 99% completed and played great.

I wonder what the control scheme would have been like? The arcade game uses a spinner for a controller......

To a modern collector that has a dozen consoles, another Wiz port may seem redundant. But back in the day when all some people had was a Colecovision it would have been a welcome addition.
Personally, I'm a fan of the game and think you can never have too many ports. :D
