Is this a common thing? I have 2 and both of them have an end not working. Is there anything that can be done to see about getting the other end running? Do you even bother buying the ones that aren't working on both ends?

I buy them, but I look for a decent deal and I make sure they are in good shape. I'm just going to be looking at it for the most part so I might as well make sure it looks good.

I have the same problem. My Chuck Norris end works, but my Artillery Duel end just shows a vertically scrolling screen.

Too much win in this thread for me to wrap my head around.

That's because Artillery Duel counts fewer scanlines than most NTSC games.

Not really broken, that one, but released that way.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. All Chuck Norris/Artillery Duel carts are like this? All Artillery Duel games are like this? It doesn't work, but that's just the way it is? Forgive my confusion, but maybe you can clarity this a bit.

Due to shoddy QA, XONOX put PAL PCB's into a lot of the double enders, specifically A.D. and they have more scanlines, not less. Since your TV can't sync to that, it rolls.

Trust me, I've probably cracked open 100+ of these and the epoxy blob style PCB's actually have NTSC or PAL on the silkscreen (on the back of the PCB). ;)

That's crazy. Guess I should count myself lucky my AD works fine. My cart actually had the Chuck Norris label applied over top of the original.

As a kid, I peeled off the Chuck Norris label and put it on he back of the cart so I could see both.

And then Chuck kicked in my teeth. Mr. Norris does not like to be peeled.

Artillery Duel NTSC: 241<262
Artillery Duel PAL: 259<284

Less.
