I would like to get video footage of specific Lynx games, mostly for online reviews. I downloaded the version of Handy available from Sourceforge (0.95), but my desktop recorder, Fraps, will not record it. This version of Handy doesn't have an option to log a video file either. Are there any other Lynx emulators available that have possibly been updated more recently? I'd like to see if I can find one that Fraps likes, or one that can log a video file. If I can't, I may have to resort to the emulator on my XBOX, but I'd prefer to do it straight from my PC (it's less of a hassle).

Mednafen uses portions of Handy in it, but handles video a bit differently. Maybe that will work for you?

It was a pain in the ass to get working, but it looks like it works! Fraps likes it, and the emulation runs much better than Handy does on my computer. Thanks for the advice! :)

I like Mednafen for Virtual Boy emulation - plus it has a cool name.

When you manage to post some videos, post the links: I would like to check them out!

Thanks! I will most-likely post a blog about it when it's ready. It won't be Lynx related much at all, but because it's a comparison video of the first three Ninja Gaiden console games, I would like to have the Lynx version of NGIII make a slight cameo appearance (I'm thinking at the very end of the video after the credits, as I want to mainly focus on the SNES and NES comparisons).

Here's the typical command line I use to run a Lynx game under Mednafen in case it is helpful for anyone:

mednafen.exe -fs 1 -lynx.special hq2x -lynx.videoip 1 -lynx.stretch 1 "D:\RNI\Atari Lynx ROMS\Paperboy (US).lnx"

Remember F8 rotates the screen (Needed for Gauntlet - The Third Encounter).

yeah, for Lynx stuff, Mednafen works a lot better than Handy on my system. I was wondering if there's a good frontend out there for it. My memories of a CLI are fading away. I don't even remember how to load basic programs in Atari 8-bit emulators anymore.

I also recommend Mednafen over Handy. Handy sound was always choppy for me while Mednafen works great. Mednafen also has superb Turbo Grafx/ PC Engine emulation too. Heck it even does Gameboy emulation beautifully as well. In short Mednafen kicks ass ;)

Try the frontend Quickplay for Mednafen. It works well with Mednafen and supports command lines. A direct link for Quickplay can be found here.

I just enter the command line "%ROM%" -lynx for Mednafen parameters in Quickplay's Emulator's Management section and most game work great. Don’t forget that you can specify the default options for Lynx games
in Mednafen configuration file so most games just need the "%ROM%" -lynx parameter to work.

Quickplay loads games quickly and is very responsive. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of other Frontends but it is highly versatile and customizable. I prefer its no nonsense approach to loading games.
