I would pay handsomely for an Intellivision version of that, but only if the stick is 16 directions. Otherwise, it's not worth it to me.

Are we talking $220, or am I reading this wrong? I just can't be sure that I'm on the same page here, and wonder if we're talking $USD or some other currency. Over $200 for an Intellivision controller? I grew up with an Intellivision (and Atari) and I have quite some nostalgia for the machine (and Atari). I didn't mind paying handsomly for a *nice* INTV unit (it's not so easy to find one of those, I found out) and also the Cuttle Cart 3 was pretty FAR from cheap. But frankly, I'm quite shocked that that **anybody** would consider paying $200+ (is this serious) for a controller to play 8-bit games, unless we lived in a world where it was required to do so, in order to play them in the first place. In this same world, where - evidently - there's not even enough interest for somebody to produce an A/V mod (Beeslife is not interested anymore), I find it highly unlikely that more than a small handfull of people would be interested in dropping $200 (!!!!!) on an Intellivision controller.

Does that diminish my affinity for Intellivision? I think not. I rather enjoy the system as it is, and as I remember. Seeing as how the controllers are attached anyway, it's all the more reason for them to stay where they are. But $200? Why not devote such efforts to reproducing the A/V mod. Surely anybody who would drop $200 on an INTV controller already has an A/V mod, then? After dropping more money than a new modern console cost - to play 8-bit games - I don't think I could stomach the RF.

What do you mean "there's not even enough interest for somebody to produce an A/V mod"? You mean, like a service for someone to do it? Because there's an A/V mob, you just have to do it yourself. However, it outputs composite video, not s-video.

As awesome as that Joystick looks, i'm not a Joystick kind of person. Never have been. I'll take the Intellivision Disc any day of of the week. I'm a D-pad person. I use Sega Genesis controllers when using my Atari 2600. I have owned a PS1, Genesis, and Nes arcade sticks and i could never get used to them.

I'd prefer to see someone make something similar but with a D-Pad. Whatever happened to that one post where someone was going to attempt to use a Atari Jaguar controller and do some serious modding to it. I'll go look for it

There are plenty of topics on making custom controllers but have no idea if any of them got anywhere.

Here is the first one. (Rev stop deleting pics off your Photobucket. Your deleting history.)

You werent missing much. It was a crudely drawn picture of an xbox controller with a keypad in the middle.

Agreed. Joystick=nogo. We're not playing Street Fighter here.

I could probably make a jag controller work no probs. i have modded hundreds of controllers. The biggest problem is figuring out how 16 directions work and making something atleast 8 directions work. I need to get a broken inty controller to disect and study

Here's another hack that was link on the page, though not obvious. It uses 4 buttons and gates to get the 8 directions, and piggybacks to the original joystick for number pad.
