I turned the brightness of the screens all the way up so they show up better when i took the pics. Are these screens totally screwed or is there hope?

Hi im new to these forums and thought id tap into the knowledge of the members on here. I have recently gotten 2 Atari Lynx II systems and both have display problems, below are 2 pics of the 2 lynx's.............
I turned the brightness of the screens all the way up so they show up better when i took the pics. Are these screens totally screwed or is there hope?

Ive left the lynx in the bottom picture on for a while now, and 80% of the lines have appeared to have disappeared, so is it the actual screens that at fault or the ribbon cable thats attached to the screen?
