Hello. Can anyone knows if exist some version of OS A or OS B for Atari XL - XE series? I mean at 16Kb rom file, not the 10Kb that works only in 400 and 800 machines.

A friend of mine have a 800XL with 4x OS 512Kb eprom, and one version shows a green font with "memopad" on it. He told me that it is the OS A. But I can not find a rom version to burn in order to work in my XL machine.

There are lots of 800-->XL/XE "translators." But If you get adventuresome, there was a neat program in Analog magazine called the Home-made Translator.

Here is a link. I had good luck with this one, and if nothing else, the article is very much worth reading.

Edit: BTW, this translator provides an extra 4K of memory since it accurately uses the smaller 800-style OS.
