The price has actually increased a little with each release, but still much better than ebay. I already got mine from this reprint run and they're labeled as 'Watermelon Reprint Edition' on the front of the box so earlier runs are still collectibles, I guess. Arrived super quick.

If you order be sure to register on the site first. The '50 gems' for registering is a $5 discount at checkout.

Also, a barebones version of the enhanced in-game soundtrack for Sega CD is available for download on their forums. The April release soundtrack set will have standard audio CDs, MP3s, and some extra data files but if you just want Sega CD music while playing the cart you can download it free.

as for the collectibility....sure its there, but people seeking it make the price more than it should...as with anything else..Id rather just have the rom and it be playable!

on a collectibility level, sure the extras are all nice...but then there is the price. Will people be looking for thise title in ten years?

Personally, I hope there's never a rom or any way to play it besides an original cart on a real console. And ideally, Watermelon should maintain stock or work with a manufacturer/distributor so that the authors are properly compensated for every sale.

Rare retail releases selling at insane prices are normal supply & demand, but ebay scalpers profiting from homebrews really bothers me. They put in a lot of work to make a great game for an obsolete console. Everyone who wants to play should be able to buy it for ~$50 and Watermelon should be making their profit. Wishful thinking... but the demand is definitely there for this game and will probably remain for a long time. Hopefully they can figure out how to maintain availability and stop the ridiculous ebay markups.

I also hope to play the game on ROM someday. Mostly cause I don't have a Genesis and do all my game playing thru Emulation. :P

I got a first run for $75 shipped becuause it was used and it's the JP mega drive varient. It could pass off as new because it was only played maybe once. :)
I could be a jerk and sell it for easly $200 but, It's a great piece in my collection so I will nerver sell it unless something really bad happen's.
