Is it possible to either make or purchase a cable or converter dongle or something that will let me take a composite video signal, like from an Apple 2 and send it to a modern tv that has the 3-connector component inputs?

I'd say yes, but all you're doing is taking chicken shit and trying to make chicken soup.

Using convertors to translate an inferior signal type to a superior one doesn't mean the picture improves.

My TV isn't that old and still has AV aka Composite. Sure, you generally only have the one vs maybe 2 or 3 sets of Component and HDMI but you can always just buy a $10 AV switcher box.

I hope not! Otherwise the laws of physics have changed.

I just want to connect the composite out of me Apple //e to a big 100" panel. And I need to go from composite to the 3 connector Component

You should be able to plug a composite video lead into the Y (green) component socket, but you'll only get a monochrome picture.

That's what I'm doing right now.

You can buy converters, although going the other way around looks cheaper, according to eBay. There's no simple cable that will help you do the conversion.

If you have a current TV with component inputs, it should at least have one composite input as well shouldn't it? I've never seen anything without at least one
