I think I've stumbled across something here.

While playing around on the game, I ventured into the Lanayru Sand Sea area for the first time. After crossing the chasm over to where the dock is, I turned around to look back in the direction from where I came into the area (on the map, it's toward the east).

When I looked up at the tower that I came into the area from, I saw this...



So what do you folks think? Seeing what I am?

nice find. probably there to mark the 25th anniversary of SMB. thoe giant pillars could even resemble the tanooki suit tail.
in SML3D, there's a Zelda chime when you light 4 flames in some room. a nod to Zelda's 25th.

^^ Yeah, that Zelda dungeon in SM3DL is pretty sweet, the only top-down Mario gameplay I've ever seen.

Don't forget about the Mario pictures in the village in LTTP.
