Hey all. Was wondering if anyone could lend some advice as to the value of this item:
30 years ago a relative of mine was a Senior Executive at UFS - they owned the rights to the Peanuts (Snoopy) franchise (up until recently).
When Snoopy and the Red Baron was being developed I was given a "prototype" cartridge of the game before release.
AFAIK the game is the same game that was released - it is just stored within a cartridge case that has no branding other than a white sticker marked with what it was. No box, manual, etc...as it was a pre-release that apparently some people at the company had to OK before it going into production.
Does this add any sort of value to a cart?

depends on what is sitting inside the cart. But I doubt you would get more than $100 for it even if its on an eprom board

OK - so maybe some value based on hardware alone - but no additional value for "uniqueness" of being a pre-release copy?
I figured it could only increase the value a small bit anyway. It might have more value as a Peanuts collectible than an Atari one (a lot of crazy Japanese Peanuts collectors!).
To be honest - I haven't touched the game in 25 years, and I suppose I may be wrong about it not being any different from the release. I never owned the release version and it is possible what I had was an earlier copy. I do remember playing it quite a bit, so it was definitely functional.

It really depends on weather or not it is the final version, a work in progress version being more desireable. You're probably looking at $50-$150 reguardless, unless someone really wants it. Now if you or your relative happens to have a Good Luck, Charlie Brown cartridge, that's a whole different story

As an Atari pre-release copy, it wont be worth more than $100 if its the final version. You may indeed get a better price from Peanuts collectors, but you would have to visit a different forum to confirm that.
As Wickycolumbus pointed out, far more serious money is paid for prototypes of unreleased games.

Yes, I agree with what Wickey and Dino have said. I own three of these (different WIPS and a final). If you want to get top dollar, perhaps you might want to go a Peanuts forum....but I highly doubt you'll get more there....if yes, maybe a few more $$$.
You said it was a final version. If it is a WIP, it will be a bit higher but not much because it is a released game.
