I got a call from my local Goodwill contact yesterday. He told me he had a Super Nintendo with some games. Today I went there to pick it up. It was a good bag. A few games I didn't have, and at least worth the price I paid. As I was almost ready to pay out, one of the guys in the back asked me if I knew anything about Intellivisions ... Duh!! So he brought out a very nice, though dirty, TandyVision! $15. Don't think I could easily beat that. Too bad it didn't have any games ... trust me, I asked.

I figure I got really lucky on this. This is the first Intelli-anything I've ever found in the wild. And the fact that they asked me as an afterhthought, I figure was that much more lucky.

What is the value of these things?

$15 is great! I'd pay $30 all day for these! They are my favourite version of the ten different Intellivisions, and the one I play on the most.

A local pawn shop here has one with about 15 common games for around $60 I think. Not a very good deal at all.

If it was a boxed Tandy that would be worth it. It's a really hard box to find in good shape for some reason.

Did the Tandyvision box always look like the regular Intellivision box? I remember by the mid 80's, a lot of their stuff was packaged in plain white with maybe a blue stripe or two and text describing what was inside. Funny if someone could make an argument that Radio Shack customers didn't care enough about keeping their boxes.

It's *really* interesting that Odyssey2 owners typically kept their system and their game boxes throughout the years.

Seems Sears Telegames people also did not value boxes as much. Hmm...

I guess that makes sense. If brand name didn't mean anything to you, then packaging probably didn't mean anything either.

Is there a reason why it is your favorite version beyond aesthetics, cmart? I'm finding that I really like the Sears Super Video Arcade and the detachable controllers. The straightened cords, plus how the controller ports face the front of the console, mean you don't have to be right next to the console to play.

The aesthetics is the only difference between the regular inty 1 and the Tandyvision 1. Both of them say 80's, but the TV is more visually pleasing to me.

I cleaned up the system last night. Other than the dust from storage, it looks well taken care of, and lightly played. I was surprised how easily the fire buttons worked compared to my other one. Good find, indeed.

While I do like the Sears version as well, for the very reasons you've stated, I've always found the Tandy's to be very reliable relative to every other version. The aesthetics just make it that much more awesome!

Ransom may have a point around the non name brand theory as to why those boxes are hard to find in good shape. Furthermore the GTE/Sylvania one is unbelievably hard to find in any shape, although that probably speaks to how rare the systems are in general.

I love it. Although i have been wanting to hook up my sears console.
