I have heard about this "1.5" version of Last Gladiators Pinball for the Saturn, but I don't know what to look for in terms of tracking down a legitimate copy of it. From what I understand, it is Japan-only. I already have what I think is a "normal" copy of the Japanese Last Gladiators (case with a normal solid, grey CD holder on the inside). I just ran into a couple of copies of this game that have a transparent CD holder with a green backdrop on the back insert. Does anyone know if this is the 1.5 version, or is there another way to tell by another part of the packaging (the instruction manuals look the same from the front on both versions I found)?
Just out of curiosity, has anyone had experience with this supposed "1.5" version? Is it different at all from the normal game? Just bug fixes perhaps? Or is there more to it?
Lastly, this is probably a shot in the dark, but does anyone know if the US version is a translation of the original Japanese release, or if it is the 1.5 version?

I've never even heard of this game before, but I thought I'd try some Googling in Japanese to see what I could find. Based on the game's Japanese Wikipedia page, I assume you mean the "Ver.9.7" edition of the game that came out in 1997 (over 2 years after the original release). The text describes this version as having adjusted the ball movement, "etc."

Yep, you are right--it's 9.7. For some reason I thought otherwise. I ended up posting the same thing over at the shmups.system11.org forum. Here's the thread in case anyone wants to read the clarifications: http://shmups.system...=760709#p760709
In short..
- Version 9.7 is the last version of the Saturn game released. It was released in '97.
- It has some modifications, allowing you to store multiple scores per table (as opposed to only one), and it also has balance issues fixed. Certain shots are easier to make now. From what someone posted though, other shots are now more difficult to make.
- It was released in a very limited quantity. Supposedly it was available only directly through Kaze (the developers of the game).
- Here is the proper cover for it (meaning there are three versions of the LG box--one stock, one with a green insert, and one for the 9.7 version): http://www.gamefaqs....mages/box-22255
