Am I the only one who didn't realize this? The article dates back to last June, so this is by no means new news, but I never heard of this.

I hadn't heard that either. I always assumed Insomniac was owned by Sony. With current art budgets multiplatform makes the most sense. One of the links on that page makes it look like Resistance 3 didn't really do all that great either.
Sounds like they're making a sequel to Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One but with a much older crowd in mind.
