It's less expensive than a triple system.

RetroN3 is $25 more and you at least get all 3 systems and 3 system controller ports. Even if you don't go the RetroN3 route. An official Genesis is probably one of the cheapest classic systems to obtain.

SNES controllers are more comfortable than the Genesis.

This is subjective. Many people would argue differently especially for certain game genres.

The novelty factor is off the hook too.

Not really considering that this adapter needs it own AV output. I would maybe agree with you it if used the SNES's AV output.

It's almost sacrilege to force your Nintendo to play Sega.

Maybe so if the SNES was actually playing the Genesis game, but its not. All the SNES is there for is power and controller input. That is all! The cart has a GOAC or some type of emulation actually running that game. The fact that you actually have to plug AV cords into the adapter makes any novelty moot in my eyes. They might as well have just made SNES to Genesis controller port converters, that's basically all they are achieving here.

Before someone brings up the Super GameBoy being the same thing, its not. Yes it had the Game Boy hardware inside and was basically just using the SNES for power, controller input, however it also used the SNES for video output. Plus there's the fact that you were taking a portable system and playing it on your big TV screen which actually has value.

Less expensive, but you're not getting the compatibility of 3 systems, either. Buying 2 gumballs would be cheaper than 3.

I don't think so. While I don't have a problem playing with either type, I'd choose the Genesis controller for comfort.

LOL ... Or to force Genesis to play SNES ... But I definitely agree with that statement! Were it not for the historic relevence of ColecoVision or Intellivision playing Atari 2600 games, I'd say the same about them, too.

We are enthusiasts and collectors. I was suggesting possible reasons that others may have for this thing.

I have a triple system and bought an Everdrive from Stoneagegamer. I agree with his points. I'll still buy this just for the oddity factor.

I'm with the hater crowd- I don't know about you guys, but Sega's are all over the place in my neck of the woods for next to nothing. why buy this thing for more? Most of us are collectors, wouldn't you much rather have a nice shiny model 1?

I would expect that most collectors already have a model 1; why not collect this new hardware also?
Eh, I have no problem with its existence per se, I guess I would rather spend my collecting dollars on something more usefull.

Well, when it's a rarity in 20 years' time...

I tried to emulate Sega games on the computer with a SNES controller to USB converter and it just felt really weird, especially with the Sonic games. The only good thing I could see from this is a space-saving issue. Otherwise might as well just modify the plug on an SNES controller so you can just stick it in your Genesis.

Yes, we are, and that's what we're here for. If it makes you happy, then buy it!
