I own a 1040STe and am having problems connecting it to a new digital TV. I have been able to connect it to a VGA monitor with one of the various connectors for Hi Res but was wanting Low/Med Res in colour. The TV has HDMI, component RGB RCA plugs and the AV RCA plugs (Yellow/Red/White), it does not have a SCART port. Is there a supplier that makes a cable to go from the monitor port on the ST to one of the TV input ports? I have seen someone that produces cables to go to SCART, is it possible to purchase an adaptor like the one shown and use a plug converter to connect it to the cable?

Hey man, i've actually got a composite cable spare for an ST as i use an RGB scart with mine. It sucks that australia didn't really adopt scart but i remember when i was living out there JB hifi had a budget 23" set in with scart inputs, which i know some Amiga users bought for using as RGB monitors..

So yeah if you want a composite cable and don't mind paying for it and the shipping to Aus let me know :), the other option is to go RGB scart into a component converter

Quick edit, my cable is also of higher quality then those sold on ebay, its OFC shielded with gold plated high quality connectors :)

I believe TVs usually don't accept a 15KHz signal on the VGA connector (or component connector) even when SCART-RGB does accept a 15KHz signal. At least according to the manual of my LG TV the vertical refresh rate on the VGA port must be 60+ Hz and the horizontal refresh rate 31+ KHz.
So you might be able to run the ST on the VGA connector in hires (31KHZ) but low and medium resolution (15KHz) probably don't work on the VGA port.

If there is no SCART connector on your TV, then you must connect the ST to the composite video connector. This is lower quality than RGB and only works if your ST has a modulator (1040 STE's have this).
