Hi all,
I just purchased a Sharp AQUOS 60" from Best Buy. I have hooked my Atari up thru the coax input and the screen always seems black and white. I'll wiggle the coax to RCA adapter a bit and the colors come and go.
I have swapped adapters with the same results. I also connected the Atari to a VCR with the same results (The VCR was hooked into the S-Video inputs).
The kicker is I have a 5 year old Sony XBR 60" upstairs and the Atari 2600 looks great on that TV. Any ideas?
I should add that when I plug the cable from the wall directly into the coax input the screen looks fine.

Rudy,
your hand is absorbing some of the RF interference; place a snap on ferrite filter on the coax, close to the RCA adapter.

The Atari puts out a slightly out-of-spec signal that worked fine with older sets, but cause some of the newer digital TVs to have issues. My 2001 HDTV does similar things (either no picture, or black & white picture) with both my Atari and my Sega Nomad (Genesis).

I plan to bring my Atari with to test out the next TV I purchase.

My genesis is doing the same thing as well. I've only had this TV for less then 30 days so I may take advantage of their return policy.

My Colecovision does this as well. I have a similar TV. And the Expansion Module for 2600 games is Always Black and White.

A Friends TV... which isn't HD but is capable of doing 480 progressive does not like my Atari in the same manner. But changing the input to something else then back fixes the image.
