I just received my SupaBoy. It seems like a nice system. However, a game that I recently bought (Super Mario RPG:Legend of the Seven Stars) is not working on it. I tried some of my other games and they work. So I was curious if anybody here has had any problems playing SNES games on the SupaBoy. I thought I had read that it plays all of the games as well as the ones from Japan. I need to know because I would hate to try and get a refund of this game if there is actually nothing wrong with it. I don't have my SNES set up and I don't know where all of the wires for the system is so i won't be using my SNES any time soon.

Has anybody here had any problems with the SupaBoy?

My web access is limited, but all's I could find on the subject of compatibility is that it's "compatible with multiple SNES titles"... not the best news.

No SNES clone has ever been able to play 100% of the library.

SupaBoy uses a SNOAC just like Retro Duo, FC Twin, RetroN3, FC-16 Go, etc.

Super Mario RPG has always been a problem game for clones. I also believe there are 2 versions of the game that exist. One to my knowledge has never worked and the other I have heard works on some clones. Clones are wily in the compatibility department. I have seen clones get worse in compatibility just because the factory making them found some older chips that they wanted to use. Since clones are not often version-ed or serial numbered there's no way to know what you are getting sometimes. I doubt it is an issue with your game, probably just not compatible with the system.

There was a batch of SupaBoys that got out with a sound problem. We were a victim of one of these batches. They had terrible whine from the speakers and headphone jack. Unfortunately quite a few people got these. So beware when buying. I would suggest only buying from a reputable seller that will guarantee what they are selling. You may want to ask whoever you are buying one from to test the unit until all these bad ones are weeded out.

That being said from my experience the SupaBoy is better in most aspects than the FC-16 Go. The only thing IMO the FC-16 Go has over it is the wireless controllers. Screen is better, d-pad is better, it looks way better, and feels much better in your hands.

I had a feeling that there was nothing wrong with the Super Mario RPG game and that it just will not work with the SupaBoy. The frustrating part is that had I known this game was known to not work for this system I never would have ordered it. I guess I should hold on to the game though, in case I ever do get my SNES set back up.

My SupaBoy does not make any awful sounds. The one I bought was after it returned back on the market. I tried ordering it from Amazon.com a month or so ago and my order was cancelled because of shipping problems. However, it did return to Amazon.com, which is where I bought it. So far it seems to be working fine. I don't like where they put the AC jack plug right next to where you put the cartridge. Also, the AC plug does not seem to stay in as well as it could. Also, the screen didn't look very new to me, making me believe it was a used product. But it works fine and the other games I tried out seem to work well. Honestly, I didn't epect it work as well as the SNES system but it is a good handheld system.

Yeah, sorry to hear that. If you ever want to buy a clone system in order to play a specific set of games, always do some research on them first. Some games work on some systems, but not others, so it's always good to double check before you order them.

You sure the screen doesn't have protective plastic on it? I have had so many customers complain about scratched screens on FC Mobile 2, FC-16 Go, and already have had a few for SupaBoy. 90% of time they just never took plastic off screen.
