I just found these 3 interesting links on Atariage:
http://www.atariage....2002/index.html
http://www.atariage....2003/index.html
http://www.atariage....2004/index.html

These are really neat; I was hoping there were more, but it seems that these features stopped in 2004.

Is there any reason why they did?

That's a good question... I'm not sure of the answer. It's definitely not that Stan is out of the retro video game scene - he writes on his excellent blog "The Electric Frankfurter". But I agree, these awards are pretty cool!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED doing those awards, but my personal and professional life got really busy after that year and keeping up with homebrews and hacks was becoming more and more challenging. We also hit a bit of a lull in the homebrew scene for a bit and awards would have been given to pretty much anyone who showed up to the dance, not really in the spirit of the awards.

Albert did an AMAZING job of creating those award cartridges for me and the copies I kept are still sitting here in my gameroom looking awesome. Atariage was such a great partner for these awards and are the only reason they were possible.

I would love to be more involved in the classic gaming community as I once was, but as these kind people have indicated, it is all I can do to keep my blog updated. (especially since I got Skyrim...)

Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

How about if you propose the catagories, and allow a 2-3 week voting for "us" to decide what should win each catagories? I missed out on those, and have to look at all of the winners, seems like some good stuff back then.

Yeah, I did the voting thing in the later years. The response was good, but not what I had hoped for. I think the first time around, I just made the call myself.

Ah, those were good times.
