The forecast for a 220 billion yen ($2.9 billion) net loss for the year to March, Sony's fourth straight year of red ink, was close to double what the market had expected, and revealed the task ahead for Hirai, who replaces Howard Stringer as CEO in April.]

Yowza, I was being open minded for the future of PS4, but just how much resources are they going to be able to pump into it?

As much as I've been annoyed with Sony and their issues with the PS3 I'd rather they stuck around to give Microsoft some competition in the hardcore gaming market. Hopefully Nintendo gets it turned around as well.

I though the game division was Sony's only profitable division. But I don't know how much longer Sony can absorb these losses since it's now 4 years in a row. At least Nintendo had years of massive profits before finally having a bad year.

I really wanted to get a PS3 so I could enjoy the Uncharted series because those games just look so fantastic, and the reviews have all been stellar. I couldn't pull the trigger after their massive security breach though, damn that fiasco must have cost them a fortune in the PS3 division.
