I don't think you can run xbox games on just a 4 GB slim.
To run xbox back-wards compatibility you need at least 8 GB so 4 GB is not enough.
I bought a 4GB slim during BF and just bought a slim drive case and put my old 120GB drive in.
Works like a charm and cheaper than buying M$ expensive drives.

Backwards compatibility has always required an internal hdd be installed.
