Believe it or not , i had started to work on defender of the crown on colecovision 2 year ago!!
I put the project on hold for various reasons.
Defender of the crown is all about "ambiance" Graphism and Sound , more than strategy in my opinion. I mean if you take the exact same game without graphism sound etc... the game won't be very pleasant. (contrary to game like Kaiser on C64 for instance where the gameplay is in the same spirit but infinitely better ).
I managed to create very nice graphism (if i find them back , i will post what i did). But it needed to much graphism to fit in the 32k cartridge. And i didn't want scale down the quality of graphism. (and i want use only 32k for my games , that's a kind of challenge and i want create game that could have been produced in 1982 /1983 ).
Secondly , we need very nice music , and i'm very bad at music and two year ago i didn't think about contact Daniel for that.
And Third , the 1k of ram i think would been very short for that kind of game if you want handled all parameters. But that using the VRAM i find we can workaround this problem if there is.
concerning Prince of Persia , I thought about it also. The Game engine i created for my current game , should be able to handle it with just little modification.
