I need a distraction folks. Recommend me some atari 2600 games I may not have heard of that are good. Never owned an Atari.

BTW, I'm playing at www.2600online.com.

Some of the best games IMHO for the 2600 were the Imagic titles. Cosmic Ark (my personal favorite), Demon Attack and Atlantis are all fantastic.

I'll second Kaboom!, but you kind of need to use the paddles for it to be awesome.

Yeah, maybe not so much fun with the keyboard.

i played my first atari games on a sixer, on a black & white Zenith tv. it took forever for the picture to "warm up" and display. you kids and your crazy facespace pages and twatter accounts.

anyway, i highly recommend Enduro / H.E.R.O. / Warlords / Kangaroo / Circus Atari

Haunted House is a must-have! Also, be sure to get Keystone Kapers and Pitfall. Pigs in Space is three games in one - hard to argue with that.

Sounds like you had a full tube TV set or a very slow solid state set. Wouldn't surprise me as the old Zenith sets held up forever. I have one that needs a few tubes to get back to 100%, but it still lives.

I used a keyboard the first time I played Bank Heist, and still loved it enough to include it on my Top 10 Atari 2600 games list.

Ooh, Bank Heist is sweet. Still trying to find a CIB copy of that one....

But my recommendation for that website is Cakewalk. Doable with the keyboard, fun, strange. And too expensive to reasonably buy on cartridge. :)
