Hi guys,

Stichting Pokey or The Pokey Foundation was the only Dutch Atari user group in the nineties. In total 57 Dutch magazines were published, 3 English language issues of "The Best of Pokey" and in total 8 Mega Magazines. We have now renewed our website www.pokey.nl and offer every magazine for you to download (in ATR format). Thanks to Marius Diepenhorst for converting the Dutch magazines!

Mega Magazine 8 is not yet available for download at this moment, but it will be available within a few weeks. In the next coming months we will add further titles, some rare Pokey demos and information disks.

I hope you will enjoy this legacy!

Kind regards,
Fred Meijer

I love that avatar!

Fred forgot the most important detail of all this. Magazine 14, 15, 16 and 17 were copy protected with a ghost-sector.
Thanks to a few people here on atariage I learned some more about this protection.

Thanks to them I found out there was no usefull data on the ghost-sector. The only reason of it was to check whether it was a copy or not.

I wrote a small routine that tricks the menu in thinking that the ghost sector was actually there (while it is not there hehe). So that is why you all can read magazine 14 and 15 (1991) and 16 and 17 (1992) too!

Mr Fred, I seem to remember that the majority of 'pokey magazine' disk-zine was in dutch (since i recall the only one of the pokey magazine that was in english was 'best of pokey', am i to understand that you are now doing adaptions in english, or you will be doing adaptions in english)

It would be nice to have pokey magazine (disk-zine) also in english

Also i think i already had 'mega-mag' disk-zine in ATR format (but i guess these versions have been hacked/cracked somehow), I also have 2 versions in original A8 format (originals, not copies)

Mr Carmel, sorry you did not understand correctly. The Dutch magazines will not be translated into English.... that is far too much work. But this is the first time that all disks of Pokey Magazine are available for download. Don't be afraid to try them out because all B-sides (and also some A sides) contain software programs, demos, utilities and not texts. Almost every program on the software sides is in English. Together with Marius we will try to publish as much of old Pokey and ANG Software as possible. For example most people don't know that there is an issue 8 of Mega Magazine and I am still looking into piles of old disks and I recently found the unreleased issue 4 of The Best of Pokey which is in English.

So there is more to come!

Little off-topic: I always wondered, who made music to Issue #3 of Mega Magazine (that "Golden Axe" conversion). I ripped this music recently for putting it in ASMA, but no credits found anywhere.

Somebody knows? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for putting stuff online again. I was afraid the site is down forever. I enjoyed reading Pokey stuff and I will return to it when time allows. I am looking forward for more Pokey and ANG Software to come.

Thanks for your compliments. You have to change the links on your website, because we do not use xoops anymore as cms ;-)
