Didn't choose a game or lost before getting picked

Cortat G

After the remaining 4 players are drawn, I can PM the 5 players who were retired or lost, and see if they

would like to randomly pick the remaining numbers and letters....

If not, I can just put the last few games or players in a hat and choose them that way!

E-5 has been selected by oyamafamily, and it's the game

Astroblast by Mattel. game picked to play by bigbee99.

Important Note: If anyone cannot play a paddle controlled shooter, due to emulation,

let me know in post or PM before the game starts!

Astroblast controls much better/easier with a paddle then with a joystick...

emulation may have paddle settings, but I never tested that before... :?

Stella + Stelladaptor + Paddles does work. I've played many a game of Kaboom that way. :)

New record, but the 300k still has to be conquered.

271,162

Oyamafamily, with this name I didn't imagine you're Brazilian too. Now I see you're form Curitiba, this is one beautiful city I must visit someday. Always hear Curitiba is one of the best cities to live in Brazil.

I'm from Belo Horizonte and very happy to be in this site of the cyberspace's world. I'm glad to be another Brazilian "member" of the Atari 2600 HSC.

But I'm not sure if there is a special member class

Not sure if Im leting to much == > (anticorps?) to pass. I must make more points per patient.

Kaboom works, but I've never been able to get Stella + Stelladaptor + Paddles to work for Astroblast. It's why I bought the cart the last time we played Astroblast.

I never saw atari paddles. It seems cool. But, is it that bad to play kaboom or astroblast with the keyboared?

I tried kaboom, never played it before, and the controls aren't smooth. Astroblast control looks fine to me. I'll try some stella configurations for paddles and test kaboom again. Stella, on my linux system, has these settings:

For the posts above referring to using Stella to play Astroblast with paddles. First of all, I wasn't aware that Astroblast uses paddles at all. Perhaps is only certain ROMs that do. Secondly, if you want to enable it in Stella, you have to go into Options -> Game Properties -> Controller and actually change the controller type to Paddles. Without this, it won't matter if you've plugged in real paddles with a Stelladaptor; Stella still thinks that Astroblast uses joysticks and acts accordingly.

EDIT: OK, I just looked at the Astroblast manual, and it seems that paddles do work, but only paddle 1, not paddle 0. To set up Stella for this, do the following:

  1. Install latest Stella (3.6)
  2. Start the ROM
  3. Go to Options -> Input Settings -> Devices & Ports
  4. Select "Use mouse as controller" -> "By ROM" and then click OK
  5. Go to Options -> Game Properties -> Controller
  6. For 'P0 Controller', select "Paddles" in "left port"
  7. For "Mouse axis mode", select "Specific Axis"
  8. Finally, for "X-axis", select "Paddle 1"
  9. Click OK to all dialogs, then reload the ROM

It seems like a lot, but it's only about 30 seconds or so. And the settings will be saved, so you won't have to enter them again.

I will definitely be doing this. Both my A7800s are out being repaired/video modded, so I will be needing my Stelladaptor/paddles to work. Otherwise, this coming week could be my last. :)
