vince
8 years after first trys, here's a new release of OURAGAN (a Tempest clone for the Lynx, in french, "ouragan" is the word for "hurricane") was shown yesterday at the AC2012 (Atari & Retro computing fan's event in France). Featuring : ¤ 3D vision (with bi color glasses) ¤ Accelerometer ¤ Sound (music, no SFX) ¤ High reactivity improving gaming experience ¤ Simple but funny gameplay More informations, videos, sound and pictures (French and English) here : http://devlynx.ti-fr.com/ouragan.php
LX.NET
Wow, looks awesome. I watched the videos and want to give it a spin on my lynx. Will you be releasing the ROM (right now it is linking to localhost/fake.lnx)? And possibly source code?
obschan
Niiice, accelerometer and 3d glasses, 2 good ideas there. You must have had quite much fun doing it. Willing to have try, will look for my green/red glasses.
vince
Thanks for feedback. Will you be releasing the ROM (right now it is linking to localhost/fake.lnx)? And possibly source code? localhost/fake.lnx is a private joke for two friends of mine... I will probably (this week or next week) release a ROM with no accelerometer feature so that you can play it with an emulator.
Ninjabba
Great work! I always wondered why there wasn't a tempest clone on the lynx. Here it is
vince
I've just updated the webpage. See the FAQ section. The "where can I dowload a ROM ?" has changed... Hotlink is no more a fake : http://devlynx.ti-fr...uragan.demo.lnx , enjoy ! If you want to "promote" it, thanks to you for informing me Edited April 18, 2012 by vince
vince
A little update... There's a new level available ! http://devlynx.ti-fr.com/Ouragan/Ouragan.demo.plus.lnx ( I made it very quickly, not sure if its graphisms are 100% exact )
obschan
Just found some glasses and had a try, the effect is very surprising, convincing
GadgetUK
Since when did the Lynx have an accelerometer?!?!? Nice work though!
Fadest
It's included on the PCB. 1st prototype has been shown by Vince 2 years ago. Ouragan is the 1st game to demo it.
+karri
It's included on the PCB. 1st prototype has been shown by Vince 2 years ago. Ouragan is the 1st game to demo it. Are you kidding? This is awesome. 3D and accelerometer on a 20 year old console- -- Go Lynx, go!
Fadest
I know, I played a bit (like a child with a new toy) with the parrot démo on the 1st prototype at the AC show 2 years ago. During this 2 years, he reworked Ouragan (a 7 years old game written during a show) to include accelerometer feature & 3D. Too bad I couldn't attend to the AC show this year to play it... vince
It's not a joke, the cartridge includes a three axis accelerometer and an eeprom. I posted (on the official page) a video where I play without joystick, just tilting the Lynx to turn left or right... I sent a demo cartridge to RYGAR, he promised me to make a review as soon as possible. Concerning the new level, bullet and enemy positions ar not totally exact, it's not a bug, this is due to approximations while computing positions... (I had not enough time to do more)
LX.NET
I tried the new version and also put the green/red glasses on. Wow! It works perfect. This begs the question: do you have a library or reusable piece of API that can be used in other games? Keep up the good work. This is awesome. +karri
I would love to get the accelerometer support in Handy (Android) to work also. And I don't mind an accelerometer API in the cc65 library either -- Karri
vince
The accelerometer is on the cartridge, in order to access it the communication is made with SPI protocol. This protocol is also used for the eeprom access.
