Ok, I keep looking up info about the Atari Basketball I saw and one thing strikes me as odd. All the sites set the depth of machine at 78 inches, yet the one I looked at seemed to be alot smaller than that depth-wise and the owner seemed to recall that it was actually around 30in by 30in in width and depth. How big are these things actually? Was the depth listed on the flyers a misprint or was there another version of thise game that was bigger?

I'm going off my memory here but I want to say it was almost 30" deep and 33" wide. I can get the exact measurements when I get home If you'd like. So it looks like the flyer is wrong. I know it just barley fit through one of my interior doors. it was so close that I had to take the door off the hinges and then I still had to remove the coin door and the control panel to loose an inch or so.

Hey, thanks. That's roughly what the seller is saying too. Basically 30" wide by 33" deep. If it is that, I can probably just fit it in the back of my '96 GMC Jimmy. I mean, if is working except for the controllers and I wouldn't mind getting it and repairing it. Would make a good starter project before going after the Battlezones. Oy.. :ponder:

Well enjoy the basketball game. $75 sounds like a good deal to me.

In my opinion the A.I. is a little too easy in single player mode but it's a lot of fun when playing against a friend.

It has a 23" crt in it, and the depth on those is usually around 20". So it seems it's entirely possible to have a 30" depth on the top half of the cabinet. Bottom half (midway and down) needs room for the control panel and such, so I'm not as sure about that.

So I measured mine last night and it was basically 30"x30"x71". I actually came out to be: width 29-7/8", depth with coin door ~30" and height 70-3/4"

Welcome to AtariAge BlindDog! I'm guessing you won't be bringing that machine with you to the Seattle show, since you would have to dissasemble the house?

Thanks for the info. I can definitely fit that. After this, I am going into miser mode. I had just four games one and notice hey really make my electric meter turn and with only 24 hours a week at work, I am going to have to save. Still going for the Basketball though. Also, I want to extend a welcome to the forum as well. You had very good timing and I appreciate the help! :)

Thanks guys for the welcome.

No the Basketball will not be going but Atari Football will be there. Basketball was there last year and I had to draw the line somewhere. I'm planing on bring 14 games and 2 megatouches to the show this year.

Awesome! I really get a kick out of the B&W games! I'm hoping there will be a Stunt Cycle there, it was the first video game I ever played as a kid and I haven't seen one since.

Well all but one of what I'm bring will be B&W. Let's see as it stands right now I'm planning on bring Stunt Cycle, Night Driver (cockpit), Super Bug, Guided Missle, Blue Shark, Atari Football, Sea Wolf, Rip Off, Armour Attack, Sprint2, Jet Fighter, Pin Pong, Stargate and Drag Race. When you get there ask one of the vid techs for me they should be able to find me i'll be around. I'd be cool to put a face to the name.

Sorry Simbalion, I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

oh, yeah, sorry! Can't wait to hear how you come out, simbalion. As long as the monitor is decent, it sounds like a great deal!

No problem. There should be more love for Black and White games! The guy I an getting the Basketball from already broke down a Stunt Cycle that only needed a new cabinet bottom before I got to see it. What he can't sell whole he is parting out and I am trying to save the Basketball from the same fate. He has 30 more machines in storage, some he is going to sell, some he wants to keep. Mostly vector Atari cabs if I heard him right, but I am wondering what earliers he still has... I need more money...

Well, the game is home and I have already done a bit of work to it. On the plus side it is complete except one coin mech and it does indeed power up. The end of the power switch crumbled and the switch fell inside the machine after I turned it in, so I will have to pull the monitor to replace that later. No other way into it. Cleaned out some mouse nests and such as well. The only really bad parts are the control panel and the bottom of the cabinet was actually damp when I picked it up. The guy said something about these particle board cabinets having a bad habit of wicking up the humidity, expecially in the bottoms up where he lives. Could be possible. Also possible that the neighbor has his sprinkler too close to that wall of this guy's garage! The garage is right up against the fence and you can't see into the neighbor's yard at all. Anyways, this is basically a barn fresh game and the guy said he wants to see someone get excited about the black and white games again. He has more in regular storage and said he would compile a list of games for me to look at as he wants to sell at least a few more, including an original Pong. Anyways, pictures!

I agree. I'd love to see some kind of Flashback unit with a built-in B&W screen (either real CRT or simulated with LED/LCD) and a bunch of built-in 70's era B&W coin-op titles.
