I'm trying to order an inexpensive but uncommon part from a Japanese website and can't read or translate to place an order. If someone wouldn't mind helping me out I'd really appreciate it. If they only ship to JP I may need help to get it over to the USA. It's a small item (regular envelope size).

hmm, well i could help with that, but why don't you refer to it as 'jap' website, or 'jap' parts, as you have said in the past that you see nothing wrong with that racist term.

There's nothing inherently racist about abbreviations.

Just what the hell are you talking about? This has nothing to do with my post. You know who is racist? The people that imply racism when there is no intent. It's called reverse racism. It is more of a cancer in this world than the real thing (persecution of anyone of a specific race). I have NOTHING against any race of people. Having studied genetics for 4 years I have more than a qualified perspective on how stupid racism is. No where in my post did I use "JAP." If I had, it still wouldn't make it a race related comment.

What I do have a problem with is idiots. They are everywhere, race doesn't matter.

I've never thought of "Jap" as a racist term. Might have the same connotations as calling an American a "Yankee". Yankee may actually be slightly derogatory in Japanese as that's something you'd shout at delinquents making too much noise outside your window over there :P

If you don't get a proper reply how about telling us what exactly you're looking for? maybe we can find a more English readable source.

I found an email for the company and I sent one off. They have some English on their site so I'm hoping they will be able to help me. It's just all their order buttons and forms that are Japanese text (images and buttons).

JAP is just an abbreviation dude, some websites will even have that when paying in JAP currency/etc
Now, if someone were to say "those Japs/etc" you might have a case but using the abbriviation JAP is NOT racist
Getting a little tired of people freaking out over something they damn well know wasn't meant to be racist.

Take a look at the Axman's post...

Note it does not say anything anywhere in it reffering to the abbriviation that YOU find racist, almost looks as if he went out of his way not to use it just for sensitive people like you but yet you insist on this reply...

Basically you are looking for a fight and feel the need to "out" him as a racist when you know he isn't. People like YOU are the problem here, Ax's post was fine

I wonder if he gets upset when people say "yam" too.

Or whenever he looks at a map & sees a country whose name begins with such a nasty racist word: Jap(an). I mean, that has to be as bad as Krautland, N*****topia, or Dagonia...

Please come back to defend yourself, we're all waiting patiently with big boy panties (but you have to bring your own) ... or are ya YELLOW?

Oh wait, is that a racist term too? Ax is right - the real racists are those that imply racism when there is no intent. Damn, what is wrong with people?

This person is obviously referring to something that happened in the past - wonder what it was? We'll probably never find out because he's probably too chicken (make a flagrant statement and then sign off) - my sincerest apologies and condolensces to chickens (poultry) everywhere, I meant no disrespect (can i get a 'bawk bawk'??)

The first people who scream "racist!" are generally the racists. In fact, I'd put money down on the probability that there are more minorities that are racist.

Reminds me of when I had a co-worker get in my face because I called a project's process "retarded". No joking, they had no clue that word actually meant anything other than mentally handicapped. Took 5 minutes of severe screaming from over-reaction until she listened to the definition of the word and let it soak in.

I think it's a simple grudge. At some point in the past (I think more than a YEAR) I used that abbreviation on a list of import games. I also defended it's use for identifying games IIRC more than a year ago. Since that time, I have made the effort to use JPN so there can be no doubt. If you really want to look through my posts you would find that I'VE made that effort consciously - even though I shouldn't have to. I also didn't answer his repeated PMs wanting to buy a game when I was down on my luck and trying to move. The game was packed up and not accessible at the time. I didn't owe it to him, or anything like that, he just wanted to purchase something. I didn't respond because I didn't have my hands on it yet, and I kept trying to remember to get at it and see if I could even offer it for sale. Figuring I'd just reply once I had it. He got lippy with the rolly eyes icon when I wasn't quick enough with a reply asking why he even bothered. Whatever the reason, I'm clearly on his mind. Let it go man, I have no quarrel with you. Life is too short.

I always use JAP or JP when listing imports in my for sale threads. If someone has an issue with that, they don't get to buy my stuff. What is he going to do, call up Keebler and tell them not to put the word Cracker on their box next to a white elf?
