You can now play Seaweed Assault online

Random Terrain

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Paulo Peccin at javatari.org, you can play Seaweed Assault online for free:

www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-program-seaweed-assault.html

You can also play with Tone Toy 2008 online now:

www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-program-tone-toy-2008.html

If you get an error that says "Splash: recv failed" just try again and it should work if you are using Firefox, Safari, or Opera.

I received the following message:

An Atari 2600 game by Duane Alan Hahn http://www.randomterrain.com/javatari/seaweed_assault_2011y_10m_26d_0834t.bin -screen_cartridge_change=false -screen_crt_mode=1

Might just be the security settings on my work computer though. I will be sure to try it again at home tonight.

Thats a cool interface and the game is fun for a twitch fix :)

Yep, thanks to Paulo Peccin at javatari.org we have a nice Java emulator that looks and sounds good.

If you are using Internet Explorer, it's not your settings. I was lazy and in a hurry last night, so I only checked it with Firefox. I just checked it with the following browsers:

Firefox: Works.

Opera: Works

Safari: Works

Google Chrome: I get "Splash: recv failed" every time.

Internet Explorer: I get "An Atari 2600 game by Duane Alan Hahn http://www.randomter...m_26d_0834t.bin -screen_cartridge_change=false -screen_crt_mode=1" every time.

How do I connect my 2600 to the internet to play it online? ;-)

You mean you don't have the lan/stelladapter that plugs in player two joystick port for online multiplayer fun?? It's super rare atari hardware made in 1983 before the crash.

Didn't open with OpenJDK6 in iceweasel 3.5. Probably stock Debian...

Just a loading window followed by a fast progress bar and then nothing.

-Edit

Now everything is working in my machine, including Random Terrain's link :)

In local Javatari...

Hmm. I'm almost sure I've tested the javatari in this computer but I'm failing to run it right now...

$ java -cp javatari.jar Standalone.class

The link to the online javatari emulator on javatari.org is working :)

And about the local javatari, I discovered my mistake. It needs the "main." before the class. So $ java -cp javatari.jar main.Standalone.class

---

Just testing an online link in the forum ;) :

Result:

Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file

For those trying to start the emulator "locally", you do not need to run java manually. The distribution JAR file you get on the official website is "executable", so you just need to "open" it on any machine that has Java6+ properly installed.

Or simply use the Webstart launcher at the website (click the screenshot).
