godzillajoe
And what are the limits? Aren't they 8x8? If so, how is the player in Coconuts rendered or the car in Private Eye? Is the ship in Phoenix a PF? Just some insomnia and gaming resulting in questions

Andromeda Stardust
8 pixels wide, but the width of a pixel is arbitrary. There's no limit to how many scanlines deep the sprite can be, other than how much valuable program data you want to suck up. The Atari VCS playfield is not made up of square tiles like the NES. Thomas Jentzsch
Stella and z26 both offer disabling graphical objects with ALT+ZXCVBN, so you easily check yourself what is used to display what.

GodzillaIsMyCopilot
I think I saw a 40oz Sprite in a Burgertime once.
cparsley
I think I saw a 40oz Sprite in a Burgertime once. I think it was a 42oz Sprite (the days before rounding down on ounce sizes.)

+Gemintronic
Depends on how technical you get about the word "sprite". I'd say the last boss in Nitebear on Sleepystreet is pretty big! Edited September 6, 2012 by theloon
Thomas Jentzsch
The ark in Cosmic Ark is pretty big then too.
Joe Musashi
And what are the limits? Aren't they 8x8? If so, how is the player in Coconuts rendered or the car in Private Eye? Is the ship in Phoenix a PF? Just some insomnia and gaming resulting in questions When both the player and missile sprites are stretched to their maximum, the combination of them can form an 80 pixel clocks wide object, which is half the screen width. This has most probably be done before in some games or demos, but I always wanted to try it myself. So, here is a demo showing a nicely bouncing Atari logo. It's not animated like an Amiga ball but it's much bigger... BigSpriteDemo.bin BigSpriteDemo.zip
